MOH is like CS now

Thats why I don't play online anymore. I get my CounterStrike kicks from lan parties - where no one cheats.

Yea, it's sad how it turns out. Counter-Strike was fun at first, but now, almost all the players are cheaters. I try to play on a server that has anti-cheats, and that does help a little bit. Even if someone cheats on those servers, it's not as obvious. I was about to try MOH, but now that you just informed me that there are cheaters already, I think I'm going to hold off.

CS 1.4 will be out pretty soon, and it will make CS cheat free for a while, once a cheat comes out, valve can release a patch that everyone automatically downloads, and it will fix it. Dod 2.0 beta started last night as well..it is pretty cool, but I still don't like dying everywhere without being able to see who is killing me.

Most MoH cheaters are gone, the nasty bugs with the 1.0 version are gone with 1.1. Maybe you played on a 1.0 server and didn't know it.

as if valve give's a rat ass if they cheat or not, never has never will. It's now obvious that valve is in it now for the money, plain and simple. They had the opportunity to make it right but they gave the boot to Punkbuster which now (good for them) has been pick'd up by RTCW and id software and will be included into RTCW and their future games.

When it comes to the HL engine and cheating, valve and the CS team have lost all respect from the gaming community, untill it hits them in the pocket book, and I doubt it ever will. They can take their engine, CS and all mods and take TFC2 too and stick up their ass for all I care.[/rant]

Actually, everything I've heard about the reason valve dropped PB was that the next version of CS has its own anti-cheat built right in.

When these games are made they ought to put some kind of "if you cheat, then everyone cheats" like Total Annihilation did. When you played someone online and they put a cheat code in...it also put the code in for you too....so at least you knew the other guy was cheating.

MrBrond is right. Valve is coming out with a new anti-cheat system. It's not like punkbuster worked that great to begin with.

Which hacks are you seeing? The base cheats of god, give weapons, etc is gone, but there seems to be a skin hack out already. Also, are you sure the server didn't have the cheats on? I've seen it already on a MoH server, the admin has the cheats enabled and promptly abuses the power.

The only cheat I've seen is the skin cheat. But I just clicked the box that forces all allies to look like one model and all axis to look like another. Makes identifying enemies that much easier. What other cheats are out there? I know someone used to be able to teleport around, but I think that was only with version 1.0

Just on a side note: Don't you hate how you have to sit through the GameSpy Arcade ads? I mean, I purchase this game, and yet I still have to sit through all the ads before I can play the game. This is such BS.

The teleport cheat was just another form of the existing, built in cheats for MoH. Someone just used the cheat "tele" command, nothing special.

You're using GameSpy Arcade? Get All Seeing Eye from http://www.udpsoft.com/eye/. The interface is better, faster and has NO ads. It shareware, but not nagware. I have found only one feature in there that complains I have shareware. Install this and immediately uninstall Gamespy anything.

You are all right, valve doesn't really care about the player base as much as they care about money, but they are making the anti-cheat work, and it will keep cheaters out, they are also going to start monitoring servers with the anti-cheat client and start banning IP's that are caught cheating. This will definitely keep cheaters out.

Makes you wonder if they leave obvious openings in their anti-cheating software then at the players expense just to keep the money and jobs flowing

It seems like a very complicated anit-cheat system in 1.4. How can they monitor all those servers and have the power to ban IP's?
Are you sure that they can actually do this?
Someone explain the process to me if possible.

It sounds like alot of hype to me. Although don't get me wrong, I would love to see it actually work right. It' just that...how many companies actually claim they can stop cheating?
This new system may work at first but I've never known any anti cheat program to actually be able to keep hackers/cheaters out.
I give it 4 months at most before someone finds a way around cheat detection and we see the return of speed cheating or something of the sort.

I thought the new patch added an in game server browser? I hate Gamespy with a passion, but I wasn't aware of alternatives (but now I know of one, thanks Vash).

I haven't followed the T2 scene for a while, but I know tribes 1 was insanly popular and we didn't see cheating as much as you do with CS. There was supposidly an aimbot, but the author came out later and said that all it did was spin you around and shoot randomly.

I don't know much about it, but I'm pretty sure they've made a system that will detect any modified game materal(other than models and stuff) and will basically sound an alert if anything has changed, and the only way to change it is going to be hard, considering the new half-life will be cached.(but not in that way)

I'm sure it's possible..when you installed the game, you agreed that it's their game and they can and will do what they need to, to protect their game and player base.
