Mohu Leaf?

I'm using amplified Philips antennas, but was looking for something better. I can't get one of the local big 3 channels, can't put the antennas up on the wall, and if I could get away from having an amplified antenna I have to turn off and on, that's another plus.

Would I likely get more channels if I got a Leaf and mounted it on the wall? I thought it might work behind a framed picture (with glass). But even if I have to go with an amplified Leaf, if it means getting more channels, that's fine.

At http://transition.fcc.gov/mb/engineering/dtvmaps, the channel (NBC) is a high VHF and is green with Receive Power: -45 dBm.
Another channel (ABC, UHF) is yellow there and I receive it fine with my new HD TV's and the antenna's amp on (not so good with my older analog TV's, same antenna, and a digital converter box).

At antennaweb.org, NBC is red and 20 miles. ABC (again, comes in fine) is red and 23 miles.

At tvfool.com, NBC: NM(dB) = 49.8, Pwr(dB) = -41.0, Path = 1Edge, 19.5 miles.
FYI ABC: NM(dB) = 39.4, Pwr(dB) = -51.5, 2Edge, 22.7 miles.

CBS has better specs everywhere (and is LOS).

What's the frequency of the channel that you can not receive. Are all the stations signals coming from the same direction. Have you tried to add extra coax to your current antenna and experimented with its location in the room to see if that will yield better results. The Mohu is an excellent UHF antenna. Your mileage will vary on high and mid VHF channels depending on the location and the amount of interference in your home. Getting it mounted high up in a window away from the TV usually yields the best reception.

The channel is WSMV. I'm not sure where to find the frequency.

They signals I care about are all within between 21 and 38 degrees apart.

antennaweb.org says I need:
"A Medium Directional Antenna is recommended to receive this station. Look for the CEA-certified Red mark on the antenna's box."

I had an amplified antenna, similar to the mohu leaf design. It sucked because the amplifier broke in a months time. I think it overheated. I can't remember. I just know I only use the antenna now. Maybe you'll get better luck with it. Didn't cut it for me.

CEA certified only applies to outdoor antennas. There is too many variables involved with indoor reception to receive the certification. Do you have access in your residence to install a outdoor antenna. If you have to resort to an indoor antenna. After looking at the Nashville OTA channel line up. Since you have both VHF and UHF channels. I would try some thing like this http://www.amazon.com/Amplified-High...or+vhf+antenna

A Noise Margin of 39 isn't going to really let you "hide" the indoor antenna with any dependability. It's going to cost around 20 to pass through your walls and then you have about 10 more to deal with from the TV tuner. That only give you 10 to play with, so it's not ideal to cover the antenna. If its aesthetics your worried about you might be happy with a Mohu Curve.

I think you're referring to ABC. The channel I'm trying to get is NBC.

I misread. The issue is the VHF. Most of the indoor antennas are built for UHF frequencies. Oddly enough, rabbit ears are great for VHF. If you can't hit a VHF with rabit ears then you will likely need to go outside. Try a cheap pair of rabit ears and if you can get NBC with them, then use both antennas by utilizing one of these http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp?p=uvsj.

One thing I will point out is height. I bought an amplified antenna and got mediocre results. Got several channels but not Fox or CBS which is what I wanted the most. Moved it up literally three feet in the air and both are not crystal clear. Could not believe the difference that small change made. I had planned putting it in the attic but this did the trick.
