Ok i've posted this so many times everywhere, i originally got it from Hardforums, but here i put it into more details
After 2 staples i got the end price of 21.20-20=1.20$AR Retail Box which IMHO really hot, some peopel are getting this, some people are not, but the software alone, Power DVD is worth 1.20 alone

Nice drive. Old software (3.1)... new is 4.0.

Got a similar deal myself (but it was less than free after a coupon). A big YMMV by now.

khstudios, that is total BS! Nowhere on their policy do they say a PM is denied because the cost is too low.

FFactory, I have never had a Staples rebate denied because I paid less than the advertised price. In some cases, I even made money after PM, coupon, and MIR.

$1?? What a rip off, just went to my local staples, picked it up for $20.57 after tax. After $20.00 MIR, it ends up being $0.57.

You can't get better than that, a DVD-ROM drive for less than the cost of a candy bar.

The only problem is that Staples B&M won't PM against an internet store. And Staples.com will include shipping costs in the PM.

You might be lucky and get an uninformed employee, but to me it's not worth the aggravation.

i just got in on this. If anyone wants a scan of my receipt, let me know. It was 5$ AR in CA, with tax.

I got one here in KY but the manager insisted on adding $5 for "reasonable" shipping from the internet co. Luckily I used it to add to another purchased to hit $150 and use my $30 off coupon that Staples emailed last week. Took it home and the drive was DOA. BIOS would recognize it even though it powered up. Gonna try a replacement later today.

The cheapest shipping for the online retailer that's being used to price match staples to (technologybazzar.com) is $13.95. I guess I was lucky when the Staples manager took my "best guess" of $5 as reasonable.

I got in on this, came out $35 (before $20 rebate) - she only gave me a 100% PM, but didn't wanna argue too much with the manager and sales rep cuz I go there once a week to do the same thing to them...

So got the drive for $15, not bad for a 16X... good reviews too.
