here is what I found out:

item 401719, price $799.

Anchorage has 5 left. Tumwater had one but it's been sent back to the manufacturer.

Supposedly none left in the pacific northwest, it's been "deleted" from the system, meaning they aren't carrying it anymore.

so this is a hot deal for anyone who can find one...

not really.... a progressive scan DVD player would still be better as it has better electronics inside doing the conversion than the tv has. in general, most tv's line doublers really stink.

Just called 2 costcos near me.

The first one said that it was not an instore item for them, then hung up on me, the second said that none of the stores in the Northeast carry them. Aparently "Northeast" includes the all of the stores in the Midatlantic region (MD, VA and DC).

Damn, and this was exactly what I was looking for.

Costco item # 401719

Status shows inactive in Costco computer system. Will not be receiving any more shipments from manufacturer. There (were) 31 available retail wide as of opening for business this morning in the Costco inventory. From what I remember Anchorage AK, and Kansas City MO(3?), and I think the only place in the east was in Charleston SC (5?), also a store in Tennessee. Checked earlier today at a N.W. Virginia Store and found out the above info.

The ones in the southeast I found were in north memphis and huntsville alabama. THere were none in atlanta where I am from. I drove the 400 miles round trip to huntsville, bought their remaining 2. One in the box for 799 for my parents (they paid for it) One for me at 200 off as it was the display model (looked perfect, minus a box)

None @ the Newport News VA store. They had the Wega 32" KV32FS17 for $899. As an aside, at this Costco store all their demo TVs run from a very poor TV connection rendering the pictures less than ideal. Every time I go there I'm always confounded as to why their marketing people continue this practice. It really detracts from their efforts to sell expensive TVs.
