Sad. That kid is going to have a difficult school life.

My first name is Ben. And, let me tell you I've been made fun of my whole school life.

Uncle Ben's rice
Ben over
Ben gay
Benny Hana
Benjamin Franklin
I could go on...

Where is my safe place? I need it now.

There must be a cop somewhere with the surname 'Down'. Surely that must cause problems? (Anytime Officer Down checks in with the precinct would it spark a major crisis response?)

Anyway, surely by now anyone with any experience of life would have long-since learned to take in their stride unusual or funny or even made-up names? The airline employees reactions just make them seem unworldly. They should have just let it go, it's a child they are talking about after all.

I understand that but Mom is still the fuck up.

I dont personally care what she is. The employee acted in an unprofessional and immature manner. The older I get, the less I care about shit like this wrt to parenting. The way I see it, the holier-than-thou parent brigade can go fuck themselves.

At some point these "adults" need to realize what sort of life they're giving their kids when they do "cute" and "quirky" crap like this.

I have no qualifications to speak about this subject, but IMO a lot of parents tend to (somewhat justifiably) think their kid is special which in turn makes them special. They then try to take this to new heights in order to make their kid seem more special, but they just end up screwing the kid over.

Oh, stop thinking about the welfare of the children.

That's as maybe, but I don't see that it changes the fact that it's either right or wrong for others to take such parental choices as a justification for being mean about a child. Airline staff of all people should be aware that there are vast numbers of different names out there. They are just labels, who cares, really? Roll your eyes to yourself once and move on.

There is a certain social class of people that never take anything seriously. Be it job performance, property care, child care, medical care, social etiquette, or ... naming their offspring.
All super casual.

(forgot "personal finances")

What's even dumber is how she pronounces it Ab-City.

Is that some work out place that specializes in crunches?

They shouldn't have taken a photo and shared it but laughing at the name ABCDE is a normal reaction and no one should get in trouble for that!

And...Squire Sebastian Senator ...

The mother shares that she was not “crazy,” or “mentally unstable” or “drunk” when she chose the unique three name moniker, which she emphatically points out “is only his first name.”
“He will not be allowed to have a nickname, he is to be called by his full and complete first name,” she writes.

New nickname. "Triple S". That's pretty cool, don't you think?
“He will not be allowed to have a nickname, he is to be called by his full and complete first name,” she writes.

Hieronymous, is that you?

O.K., that's Dutch but it's the 1st one that came to mind.

Kaitlyn...

“I’ve always loved the name Kaitlyn but hated how popular it was. So when I found out I was having a girl, my husband suggested we replace the ‘ait’ with the Roman number symbol for eight!” Mavis wrote in That’s Life magazine in June 2016, sharing a picture of her child. “Now our daughter is truly unique.”

KVIIIlyn

“The Romans didn't say it 'eight' so now her name is actually K-octo-lyn,” another pointed out.

Looks like a cross between old Norse and Welsh. I almost like the form, but the capitals in the middle are really distracting. The Is are ok if you use the right font, but there's no getting around that V. Just looks fucked up.
