Just spoke with a monarch manager and he told me that this year they will be having bf specials this year, whereas they haven't in previous years. Supposedly insane deals. Too bad I already pulled the trigger on bunch of stuff already, lol!

WARNING: THOSE BASTARDS AT MONARCH CHARGE YOUR CREDIT CARD AS SOON AS YOU ORDER, EVEN IF THEY SHIP YOUR STUFF 2 WEEKS LATER.

That's the first time any online retailer has done that...Buy.com, Amazon, and every other major retailer waits until they SHIP to do that.

Ask TankGuys...all online retailers are supposed to charge your credit card as soon as you make a purchase, not as soon as it ships. It's not the retailers' choice, it's the credit card company's.

It's Federal Law, they can't charge until they ship. You shouldn't have to pay interest on an item if they're taking 2-4 weeks fulfilling it. Only the small shops like monarch and tankwhatever do this nonsense because they don't have legal counsel advising them, and a bunch of college students purchasing from them who just got their first credit card and don't know anything about their rights.

Educate yourselves: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/credit/billed.htm

Back on topic.
To bad it's rebates. I hate the concept, hate the hassle, hate jumping through hoops for a few bucks.

JFK is right, you CAN'T charge someone's CC until you ship

If Monarch ( a company I like btw) is doing this someone should advise them they aren't allowed to.

Some credit card issuers make an exception to the general industry rule against merchants charging before shipping if the merchant tells you about its practice at the time of sale. If you're certain the merchant said nothing or wasn't clear about its charge practice, the credit card issuer is more likely to allow the dispute.

Stormside: correct, but that's the problem, MONARCH DOESN'T MAKE IT CLEAR that it isn't following the "GENERAL INDUSTRY RULE". It's sneaky not to follow the GENERAL INDUSTRY RULE about shipping first, then charging.

haha, I guess they might give you a "Monarch Fanboy special deal" and refund you for the credit card interest that you accrued while they took their sweet time shipping your order.

It is listed in our Terms and Conditions that we do charge once the order is placed. This is our first step in verifying the validity of the purchase.

reading the ftc thing, it looks like they can charge you as long as they eventually get you the product, and provide a revised shipping date. I don't think I'll be taking my opteron 165 case to court, but I am dismayed that I was charged. I'm still waiting for a retail 165 that I ordered back on Nov. 7th. I was offered an OEM about a week ago, but decided to wait for the retail. I just hope I don't run into to this nonsense again.

I havn't ordered from monarch in a long time, mainly because I am cheap and go for the best prices on tech items. But I do talk to their tech guys occasionaly and many of my customers get pointed to monarch. They have the best customer service hands down.
And they won't give you a canned reply or some bullsheet answer.
Looking forward to the sale.

Hate to break this to you, but you cannot exempt yourself from federal trade laws simply by saying so in the fine print.

"Attention all customers: The law does not apply to us. Go screw yourself"

I googled, and it says that the item must be shipped within a month of charging, so I don't think any laws are being broken.
