Alot closer? Memphis is much closer to the Atlanta area than Houston.

I had a horrible experience with an order from Monarch. I placed an order wich took over 2 weeks to arrive. Monarch customer service reps (if you can get through to one) are rude, and they all tell you the same thing "that will be shipping out today." I have ordered from ZZF and Newegg and never had any problems from them.

They're in Tucker, Georgia. I applied for a position there & never heard from them. I think what you have there is a small outfit that is trying to handle a huge load. They need to hire a lot more people or they will lose most of their business.

I think you're correct. We've ordered multiple machines from them. The lead time on the first (which was back in the May timeframe) was somewhat reasonable - a little bit more than a week, from what I recall. Then, we had a larger order for multiple computers - it took them more than a month and a half! Then, we bought one last computer, and it's coming today - more than a month total from when we ordered it.

Monarch is _very_ lucky that the Hornet is such a compelling and unique offering, because it's just about the only thing keeping me from filing a BBB complaint. Their lead times at this point are more like two-three weeks, and they should not be advertising less than that.

I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but they are increasingly making it hard for me to do so.

What did you order from Monarch? That also can affect shipping times. Did you have them put together a cpu & mobo combo? If they shipped it in one day and it didn't work would you be happier because you received it sooner?

How messed up are things in GA right now with the hurrican? I think gas prices are more out of wack there then anywhere. NOrmally when I order from monarch its fast but I just ordered some ram and it took 4 days to ship. I'm cutting some slack because I don't know if that region of the country is having issues with transportation.

I haven't ordered from them in a long long time, but the only problem I ever had with them was that they have no clue how to packag an oem hard drive. They wrap it in a layer (or two if you are lucky) of bubble wrap and then throw it in a box thats way too big for it so it bumps around on its trip to you.
After having that happen twice 2 years ago, I figured that it wasn't a fluke and thats just the way they ship things. Never ordered from them since.

I ordered from them and got everything in a reasonable amount of time, and everything worked. At the same time I ordered from ZZF, and the DVD-RW I recieved was non-functional. I'm sending it back with an RMA, but if you add in the cost of shipping, it's no longer such a great deal. Anyway, I guess per vendor your milage may vary.

I also found an interesting story about Monarch here:

Monarch took 1.5 weeks to ship out a P180 case that they said was In Stock and shipping in 1 to 2 business days. I e-mailed CS and never heard an answer.

Ok, this is getting rediculous. I'm ordering a freakin RAM set here. And no, the hurricane would have had a greater affect on Performance-PC's, which is in FLA. My order from them arrived yesterday exactly on time. I sent tthem an e-mail yet have not heard back from them.

Edit: Just called them and they said it is being shipped and that my tracking number will be issued later tonight. If this is true, I may be a little more forgiving.

If you want to save money go with Monarch, but if you want your item fast, well packaged, and top-notch service, go with Newegg.

I built a new computer in June. I ordered most of it from Newegg, but Newegg didn't have the then-brand-new A8N-SLI Premium in stock yet. Monarch did, so I ordered the motherboard and my video card (Monarch beat Newegg on price) from Monarch. They don't process orders over the weekend, so Newegg had a two-day head start on Monarch, but the orders from both companies arrived the same day. Newegg send me a DOA Mitsumi floppy/card reader. There was nothing whatsoever wrong with the Monarch order, and their prices on the two items I ordered from them were a little better than Newegg's. Newegg is great, but, at least in my limited experience, so is Monarch.

Monarch is anything but a "shady" company. Look Monarch up on ResellerRatings.com.

I can't speak from experience, but I've read a lot of similar complaints on this site.

ROFLMFAO! After you ordered from Monarch, I bet you recieved an e-mail with a link directing you to Resellerratings.com, correct?
If you had posted anything other than a positive review, you would immediatly be contacted by Monarch reps, asking that you change your review (asking you to lie, basically) and they will even try to bribe you with discounts/better hardware in order to get you to lie on RR.com. If that is not representative of a "shady" operation, then I don't know what is. Monarch reps will not show this much interest in their customer when said customer is having a problem with his/her order or parts that have arrived DOA. They are only interested in resolving customer issues when said customer goes public with the wrong-doing. Don't believe everything you read on RR, n00b.

Time for me to rant on reseller ratings to get some discounts! Haha, no really, the order shipped out tonight. Yes, a day later than I expected, but I'm a happy camper for now.

If you think you can get ratings like that by bribing all your customers to change their reviews, then you're welcome to your delusions. I can't recall if Monarch sent me an e-mail directing me to resellerratings.com or not. I went there before I purchased from them. What I found there is why I purchased from them, and I was most definitely not disappointed. I don't believe everything I read on RR.com. It's pretty obvious when the "ballot box has been stuffed;" those situations are easy to spot. That's definitely not the case with Monarch. You'll need a little more than the pure speculation you're spouting to impugn the integrity of Reseller Ratings. Take your insults and shove 'em where the moon don't shine.

anything i've ever ordered shipped out within the next day and sometimes with upgraded shipping. I don't buy pre-built computers, so I can't say how they handle that stuff

Well congrats on your good luck with Monarch, wish we all had it that good. Hey, I used to recommend people to them all the time, but that was long ago. Also, they don't bribe all customers, only those that leave less-than positive reviews. You would know this if you bothered to read the reviews instead of just looking at the score. The integrity of RR is not in question here, it's a great tool that I use all the time.

I, personally, will never order anything from Monarch again, but that is due to the overwhelming negative experience I had with them.
