From the looks of the reviews, these X2's are poor overclockers too.
It seems AMD is wising up to those who buy cheap chips and overclock to get out of paying for the high end stuff...
Pisses me off, should have bought it before it jumped.Originally posted by: BPB
For those watching, Newegg's prices are jumping pretty good. The X2 4200+ has gone up 20 in the last few hours.

I got this Athlon 64 4000+ at mwave for $128.75. Did I do bad? I was going to get the X2 4400+ but this is half the price and also has 1MB cache. I'm upgrading from the 3000+ using a board that overclocks poorly. $128.75 is a lot less than $259.00.Originally posted by: rgwalt
Newegg has dropped their price on the 4400+ Toledo to $259.00, shipped free. I snagged one.

The X2 4800+ is 3 freakin' 60 at Monarch! $360.99. You got a heck of a deal! I'd have gotten that in a heartbeat! Good for you. The pricing sites said the 4800+ would be easliy under $300 by now, but I ain't seeing it happen. I just hope I'm happy with my 4000+ with 1MB cache.Originally posted by: thebodman
Picked Up an AMD X2 4800+ for $299.99 + $2.97 Fed Ex 2 day air from Monarch yesturday!
I had bought a 4400+ from then when I saw the Tiger price of 309.95 for a 4800+ with 1meg cache.
I called Monarch to cancell the 4400+ and the rep asked why, I told him about the Tiger price on the 4800, he checked and said was great price. He asked me if I would buy it from them if they matched Tigers price. I told him that was what I wanted to do originally but the guy on the phone said they couldn't match the price, which is why I 'm cancelling the order. He said that he would not only meet their price but beat it at $299.99 for my trouble!
I guess it all depends on who you talk with.

True, but the 4000+ has only one processor, while the item at Newegg is an X2.

Does the X2 have the 1mb cach?
I realize that I didn't get a dual-core but I can't see paying twice the price right now. I'm getting this for an MSI RS480-M2 motherboard, not the greatest board. Eventually I'm building either a socket AM2 system or an Intel system (probably AM2). Hopefully I can get some money for my used A64 3000+. If so it'll make the 4000+ all the more cheap.Originally posted by: rgwalt

EDIT: Just got an email. It took about 48 hours, but my order has been approved! Now hopefully they'll ship it in less than 48 hours....
