If I need it right away, I buy local.

I'd complain about ZZF, but it hasn't been too much of a wait really.

Now Monarch requires a signature even with a signed release. For me, this pushes me to go with Newegg. I can't be home when they come by my house and the Fed Ex pickup is about 40 minutes away. So it takes me about an 1.5 hrs to go get the package. I'm not worried about anyone taking it off my porch, so leaving it is what I prefer and expect.

That is BS ...newegg constantly leaves my packages on the doorstep and I sign no relaese form...This fvckers have done it the last 3 times for items in value up to 1000 dollars...So dont tell me anything...I know they did it with about 100+ dollars of netwrok stuff just 1-1/2 months ago...They did it to a guy in the forums about 3 weeks ago and it was stolen...

I dont know how fed-ex works in your region but they flat out leave it....I order elsewhere and if I am not here I end up going to pick it up at the fed ex pickup place about 20 minutes away...I have no problem with that...

Many many orders from ZZF, including some this month. Never had slow shipping, often ships same day, sometimes next day. ZZF is AOK by me.

Well that's pretty important. I never had any problems with Monarch 'til I tried to get an RMA. I won't order from them again.

Same here. I will never order from Monarch again.

Monarch does not seem to, under any circumstances want to deal with any RMA issues. They have fast shipping at first. But they majorly drag their feet with an RMA. Personally, I would rather pay a couple extra dollars, or wait a couple extra days (if need be), to not have to deal with a month long battle to get an RMA that was Monarch's blatantly obvious mistake in the first place.

Customer service is very important, but most people ignore the "customer service" quality, until they have a problem.

I dealt with Monarch and recieved a quality custom built system for half the price of the competitors. Alienware and Falcon Northwest will build you a great system, at about five grand. Who has that amount available?

I think for the volume of orders that Monarch has to respond to, they actually have a great rating athttp://www.resellerratings.com/seller2079.html

Tiger Direct and Monarch have always been great for me, TD ships same day I order 90% of the time, and usually I get packages in 3 days with standard shipping.

Huh... odd. I just ordered a few things from ZipZoomFly and they were QUICK to ship it. It got here 2 days from the day I placed the order. 2x in a row within one week's time. I guess your milage may vary...

I've read alot of posts (here and many other forums) about how someone left a negative feedback at resellerratings for Monarch and Monarch contacted them. They made a deal where the negative review would be changed to positive, then Monarch would give them something. That may sound great, but it really skews the ratings they get. My point is, you can talk to them forever about an issue, but unless you start a thread here or give them a bad review on reseller, they will just ignore you.

Well I look at this way.
Scenario: Want to top purchase a AMD 4000+
Price: Newegg $599, Zip $550
Final Result: I wait an extra day or two and Newegg can go fly a kite.
Newegg is nothing but a price gouging company now.

I had an excellent experience with Monarch as well, after some feather ruffling. They RMA'd a board to me next day, with Saturday delivery. Good experience, value customer service.

Not at all, that is a business responding with good customer service. newegg has done that 2 times to me in the past. I dissed them for messing my orders up and they came right back with "how can we make it up to you?" That's good customer service in my book. Got a free cap from them too!

Yup ZZF is owning Newegg lately. Egg has gotten way high in prices and charges shipping besides. I have never had a bad experience with ZZF after many orders. Newegg is great too, just more expensive.

Newegg does have some higher-priced stuff, but they also have a TON of great deals, and you can't find a lot of their stuff anywhere else. 100 percent reliable, and Fed-ex has treated me right, too. Monarch is a little slower, SVC and Jab-tech are slow but excellent also. Now, I've never had a bad experience with ZZF, but the only thing I ordered from them was a keyboard (for the free 2nd day). It came quick and was just what I needed, but it was only a keyboard. I've just been lucky, I guess. Just don't count Newegg out. Get your cheap crap from ZZF or someplace with free shipping, but trust your big stuff to the Egg, is my philosophy.

Riiight. there shouldn't have to be any "feather ruffling" whatsoever. I don't consider that good CS. Perhaps you just have a lower standard for what you consider "good" customer service.

i know this is a little off topic, but:
how about chiefvalue, isn't that the same thing as newegg? i've ordered from them twice and for some damn reason they always take like a day or 2 longer than newegg, coming from the same place and being shipped at the same time. weird. i ordered my new dfi-sli board and i just got it today, i ordered it on friday morning(and it shipped the same day, i know fedex doesn't go over weekends, but with newegg it would be here on tuesday or monday). happened both times.

I've bought stuff from NewEgg, Monarch, ZZF, and a few others, but those are my main three, and the ones I used to buy almost all the parts for my new PC I built in Decemer. I got the Mb and vid card from ZZF and it came, with free shipping in 3 days, great! I bought some cables and a HSF from Monarch, and they came in three days, great! NewEgg, for the first time, let me down a little. I ordered, the CPU, sound card, DVD Burner, anothe HSF (wasn't sure which one I liked better) and some Artic Silver. Three days later, the HSF shows up, nothing else, it's Wed. Next day, nothing, then on Fri, the CPU and the Artic Silver show up. Monday, I was sure that the sound card and burner would show up, but they didn't till Tuesday.

Well, it was close to Xmas, so I didn't really blame them (New Egg), then after the 1st of the year, I ordered a Princetion 17" LCD from them. The same night, a friend bought the same item from Buy.com. This was on a Sunday morning. On Wed, his shows up, mine doesn't. Not on Thurs, or Fri. Tracking says it was here on Fri morning. Finally on Monday, at 4PM, I got woke up when it showed.

I'm not giving up buying from NewEgg, but this kind of worries me. I hope it's not going to happen again.

Newegg had been incredibly consistent for me, they've always shipped my stuff the same or upcoming business day. One of my recent orders was processed and packed within 3 hours! If the items ship out of their Edison, NJ warehouse I get them in 2 days every time (being in MA helps here).

ZZF - I ordered my mobo from there, after hours, it shipped out the next businesss day. I haven't heard great things about their RMA service, so I opted to spend a little more for my X850XT by buying it at the Egg, so I'd have their warranty and not ZZF's.

Monarch - no experience there. Georgia is one of the states on my boycott list. No, don't ask why, that's way too off topic.

ZipZoomFly, more like LieAndChargeYourCreditCard. Those asshats said to me "Yes we have that CPU in stock so go ahead and order it on the web" when I called in. So a week goes by and I'm wondering where is my CPU. Turns out it was really on backorder and they already charged my credit card for an item that wasn't even IN STOCK.

These people are a bunch of lying theives. Do not buy from ZipZoomFly!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly. I've had good luck with ZZF where as the almight Newegg has consistantly been late to ship to me and I never get a status until the next day.

C'est la vie.

So in your perfect world, every company gets every order right and gets it to you on the exact day you expect it...riiiigght.

The point is they responded to the problem in a professional way and made it right. THAT is the mark of a good company. In the case of Monarch, the problem wasn't even their fault, it was the mobo manufacturer's. Monarch stepped up and took the heat for the manufacturer. I will trust them in the future and you should too.

your expectations need examining.

I just thought I'd add my 2 cents:

I've been building computers for many years now, and I've always used Newegg (for obvious reasons). However, as others have noted, lately NE's prices haven't been as competitive as in the past, so when buidling my new computer recently, I gave ZZF a try. Not only were their prices much cheaper, but shipping was a STEAL compared to NE.

The stuff I ordered from ZZF arrived very quickly, whereas the few things I got on NE took much longer than usual. When I emailed NE to inquire about my order, they were very responsive and not only acknowledged this unexplained delay as being their fault, they also refunded me the shipping costs ($20)! Yeah, it's only $20, but how many times has a company ever treated you that well (never)?

In the end, my experience with ZZF was great, but NE's customer service was so good I ended up feeling guilty for not using them for all my parts. I can't comment on Monarch, as I've never used them, but it sounds like they're also very good.

Although I never bought anything from ZZF, looks like ZZF is in deep trouble. No one will buy from them once they read these posts, I guess.

Orders! Unless you've ordered from them dozens, and dozens of times, this shoulds not be plural. You got a free hat, who cares about the hat. That's just free advertiesing for Monarch anyway.

My "world" is "perfect" Interesting comment, to say the least. Of course they should try to make it rite. That is expected of any company, especially if they'd like to stay in business. So you got a free hat, and that makes you "trust" them? You're easy to please. I'm sure Monarch wishes all customers were as easy to please as you seem to be.
your expectations need examining.

I beg to differ. Like I said before, your standards need to be raised. Well, they don't actually need to be. If you're happy, then more power to you. It's just that I have no desire to put up with companies that have to frequently "rectify" bad situations that other companies do a better job of avoiding in the first place.

Amaroque:

NO COMPANY is capable of completely avoiding mistakes. Mistakes happen. I challenge you to give me the name of one infallible vendor. I think that's what the point is. Just read the thread. Some people like ZZF, some don't. Some people like Monarch, some people don't. Some people like Newegg, some don't.

Sometimes a company might take a couple days to ship and not tell the customer. Sometimes they might even forget to put something in a box. You make it sound like they do it on purpose. You've got a couple dozen people putting orders in thousands of boxes per day. There's quite a margin of error there. Want them to hire more people to keep the QC up? Well... There goes those low prices!
