Favre is the man. Anyone who thinks the Vikings win that game without Favre is crazy.

Many QBs could have won that game. It wasn't "Favre Magic" that won it.

LOL, your grapes are sour

No, no they are not.
Honestly what was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO magical about that game that Favre did? If anything it was a magical defensive line by the Vikings. I don't recall Favre lining up at the DT spot.

Its not a question of magic or fairy dust or anything else. What you have to ask yourself is whether the other qbs on that roster would have done what Favre did. No, no they would not.

I'm not saying, nor did I intent to imply that Sage or Jackson could have done it. Though 50%+ of the other QBs in the league could have. The dude had ALL DAY on most throws. Give any QB that much time and they are going to find a wideout.

Packers would be 4-0 if they had a decent offensive line. Aaron Rodgers has been sacked 20 times this season.

20!!!!

No doubt. Everyone is worried about Favre making it 16+ games. There's no way Rodgers (or even Favre in his prime) would make it 16+ playing behind that O line. Seriously needs some help.

The Packer O-Line wasn't great for sure but there were a couple of times where Rodgers simply held on to the ball too long to try and make a play that wasn't there. Like the play that ended the first drive because he fumbled when he got sacked. The second half shuffle of the offensive line because of injury certainly didn't help.

Have to give a big tip of the hat to Favre though. He's still got it. Whether or not he can keep it up throughout the season though or his arm starts to fall of like it did in the last half of the season last year remains to be seen though. The positive for him with the Vikings though is that he's got a better offensive line and a better running game than he did with the Jets.

No doubt about Rodgers. I don't think I've ever screamed "JUST THROW IT AWAY!~!!!!" more times during a game.

I never understood people questioning whether or not Favre still had "it" or not... sure he's super old (in NFL terms) and he faded at the end of last season, but even 75% of Favre is better than 75% of starting QBs I'd say. I think any team would have been happy to sign him this off season. Hell even the Packers never really wanted to see him go.

See, this is what gets me. If they wanted him to go, then why did they make him rush his retirement decisions? This makes no sense to me. You've got a superstar quarterback plus an excellent backup/quarterback of the future, I honestly think the Pack mishandle this and now you reap what you sow. I for one would rather have seen Brett play his entire career in GB (just like most folks i imagine) why not let him ride a couple more years and save his body from OTA's (training camp is a different story, I think everyone should be participating). This is really what it was all about, Brett getting older, not really wanting to participate in OTA, but Mccarthy wanted him to and Thompson wanted Rodgers to start, so they pushed him out. GAH i'm done sorry for the thread crap/rant.

Except for the fact that even if Brett had stayed in GB and retired there, he still wouldn't have played his "entire career" in GB, since he was drafted and played for Atlanta in 1991.

ok ok my bust i forgot they drafted him, but you get the picture.

Yes, I got your point.

But, this isn't a case like John Elway or Eli Manning where they were drafted by one team and immediately traded to another before even taking a snap. Favre actually played for the Falcons during the 1991 season.

you win. happy? stupid falcons. they're screwing with my posts.

I love all the old footage of Jerry Glanville calling him "Mississippi" and making him throw balls up into the upper deck on bets and such.

haha i've never seen those.

"Atlanta coach Jerry Glanville did not approve of the drafting of Favre, saying it would take a plane crash for him to put Favre into the game."
