I'm a consultant and normally comes into the client's office at 10 or 11 for more sleep and less traffic, they're fine with it as long as i work 40 hours week. so friday i get a notification about a 9 am meeting, i go out of my way to wake up extra early at 7am this morning and when i come in i was told that it's cancelled. i lost almost 2 hours of sleep for nothing. thanks. now im leaving at 4pm to beat the evening rush.

At least you didn't have 45 18/19 yr old college freshman bumrush your office at 8:00 asking you questions about your GTA's syllabus, because the GTA's office hours aren't until Wednesday, when you have a article submission due in 3 days. I'd rather have woken up 2 hours earlier.

yeah thanks. i've been in it for 6 years and it still never ceases to surprise me.
i could've just declined to show up for the meeting. i wasn't required to do anything but show up anyway. cancelled because someone is "on the phone" WTF??? he can't push the voice on the headset a few hours back and make time for REAL people in a REAL meeting?

obviously you missed the point. so if you wake up at 7am everyday, but if you wake up at 5am one day just to get in early for some god awful monday meeting where you're not even required to do anything but show up and they cancelled the meeting the last minute just because some self-important a-hole is "on the phone" would you be pissed?

I think you should expect stuff like that that as being a consultant. I remember hearing about a consultant traveling overseas the next day after recieving a phone call 2 in the morning.

How 'bout this guideline? Don't SCHEDULE 9AM meetings. There's nothing in any business that needs to be discussed that fvcking early in the morning.

The only exception for early-morning meetings is event staff meetings directly before the opening of an event.

True that. I have a really tough time making it here by nine... I've done it a few times in the last year...

I make sure I never schedule a meeting before 10:00Am and not after 11:00AM so I don't have to wake up early and also so I don't cut my lunch hour short.

I do, but I take short lunches and can therefore leave early. Most of my coworkers come in around 9 and leave at 5, regarless of length of lunch. However, if I had to drive to work ( as opposed to the half mile walk), I'd probably be on the 9am circuit with the rest of them.

I do

I do, now. I used to work 10-7. Great for traffic and sleeping in, horrible for spending time with the kids. So when I was told I could work whatever hours I want, I took 8-5.
