I am in for the Paypal fund deal. NeoV can put his email in his profile and we can send him something to appreciate all his help in the past and a gift to his new baby.
IMHO, NeoV is bringing business to OM. A lot of the stuff that he posted here were locked up in the backroom, nobody, no even OM's employee know about them. So corporate can have a sale that nobody knows. His post actually helped moved the merchandise that I think they will never be able to sell at full retail anyway. May be he should not be using company time to do this, but firing him is just too harsh.

I think that everyone should still take advantage of the monitor deal, because if everyone now boycotts it, then NeoV's efforts to get all of us good deals are in vain--he will have lost his job for nothing, I would think he still wants us to get the monitors.(perhaps the TFT for him)

like other people have said, i doubt it's just one person that brought in the thread. so instead of spending energy looking for one person, I suggest we all put the effort into promoting the awareness of hot dealiquette (like netiquette). I doubt the people who got him trouble meant to, they were probably just careless about it, and they need to learn.

I'm really sorry for your loss NeoV, as people know, I work at an office max, and I know of how the company works, and I should have seen this coming...this is so office max-esque.

I'm about to begin looking for another job, I do too much to get too little respect working at minimum wage...and if I get a better job, on my 2 week notice, I may just put "in memory of NeoV" in the section for reason

I will also be hiding my profile, I don't want to lose my job just for saying this much (which I'm sure could happen) until I choose to.

All I can do is echo what others have already said, but I'd at least like to add my thanks to someone who went out of his way to help some others in the "community".
And for those who caused this result - Hang your heads low, that was some sorry piece of work.
Your actions have harmed someone who was acting to potentially benefit you, but apparently it wasn't fast enough or certain enough, so you sold him out. You've violated one of the most basic principles in life - treat others as you would want to be treated. But you probably can't understand that.
Enough of my rant, another re-phrase of the Golden Rule is "Take care of those who take care of you" --- If a fund for NeoV becomes a reality, I'm in.

NeoV, sorry to hear that you lost your job. Though I rarely shop at OMax (not exactly in my area and Staples delivery satisfised most of the needs) and never directly be benefited from you posting, I'm in for the paypal fund to help you out.

I'm also looking for a job and can't help you much. I hope other Anandtech member who are in hiring capacity can offer you a new job or some freelance work.

You have your dignity not accepting $ and NicKel suggested us to buy you baby stuffs. Whatever way you prefer, please remember there are still a lot of people who is on your side and is willing to help you whatever way we can. Though we don't know your identity, we all want to help you, if you let us know what we can do for you.

I'm for a little help as I have limited to offer. Help NeoV whatever you can afford, big or small. A lot of small help gather together will help bigtime.

As NeoV won't accept money, and I have no clue in buying baby stuffs, and sure don't want to buy something that he or her girl friend won't like, it's be a lot easier to have a .... gift registry, or if Nickel or NeoV can PM me the SKU # of the items NeoV want.

BTW, a warning, let's do it "discreetly" so that we won't kill babystyle.com (?) or whatever's coupon code. Also, avoid security hold on orders as these companies suddenly receive flooding orders bill to different credit card numbers and ship-to the same address. Some idiots got NeoV enough troubles already. We sure don't want to give him more trouble to explain they are not fradulants order why suddenly a lot of ords using $20 coupon with his address as ship-to.

I am terribly saddened by the news of your departure from the company. I also work at OfficeMax (but at a store, not corporate) and really ache to think the company could hurt you in such a capacity.

I was able to get a Palm VII a few weeks ago as a result of your awesome abilities. I was really looking forward to buying the 19" inch monitor we have on display (we do not have any in boxes at my store). Now, I just could not buy it and feel awful. I would rather spend the $130 helping you and your cause.

I hope that the baby is born healthy and that you find work that suits you well.

I really hate to see such a disastrous result come about from all the generosity and kindness you have given to us. Even those who did not go to Omax to get in on the deals (not just this one, but all deals) should be grateful for your posts just because of the spirit behind them (i.e. UNSELFISHNESS !!! )

I am so sorry to hear that, I used to go to OM all the time because it was right next to my house, but the store closed in December, and OD is just a block away. I guess no $130 19 incher 4 me. Would tell friends about this. Since I'm only a 15 yr. old, sorry can't help financially.

it was one person. in the history of the hot deals forum at anandtech only one person has threatened to do something like this--to my knowledge (who would be so stupid to think it would work?).

when office max sees something like this going on, they move FAST. case in point: saturday night awhile back--just lurking around--i find that all week om has had these signs on the kingstons (128 for $54.99 and $79.99--misprint). to make long story short--i got two kingston infineons for $54.99 before rebate(my co-worker got one--i kept one), and the manager got _phissed_. on the way out i noticed the mgr getting on the phone AND the computer. came back a two days later, and noticed signs were red-and-black instead of the previous green-and-yellow. coincidence they changed the printer? i think not

neo, would you take some hot deal goodies from me and etay them(i hate etay, but i'll make an exception). right off, i've got an extra gamepad pro i can send

i wasn't doing much shopping at om, and the amount of people who blew the palm deal here turned me off anyway
