Monitor connection to Gigabyto mobo????

OK, so I just finished putting together my very first CPU. Had a blast doing it and can't wait to turn it on. I get the mouse and keyboard plugged in and when I go to plug in my monitor, there is no 15 pin monitor port. Very angry. So, my mobo is a Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9. It only has a parallel port and a serial port on it. Do I just need to get an adapter or what?? I am dying to fire this thing up, all help is appreciated!!!

Uhh, I take it you have only built systems previously (if at all) with onboard video. These are generally low-end cheap solutions. The board you have is not one of these. It requires a video card of the PCI Express variety in order to output a video signal.

Just out of curiosity, why did you go with the GA-K8NF-9 motherboard ?

Well, I wanted one with the PCI-e option and this one was one of the first out with nForce 4 and PCI-e. Basically I just knew I wanted to go with the A64 socket 939 and tried to find a mobo with what I was looking for and bumped into this one. I have two 36GB Raptors that I'm gonna run in Raid and then another 160GB WD SATA drive for storage. I got the A64 3500+ processor and the Gigabyte 3D rocket cooler-PRO. All-in-all everything went together pretty smoothly. Any recommendations on a video card? I guess I'll have to order one tomorrow. I would like to keep the price around $400.

For that price, you should be able to find a 6800GT. If you are not into heavy gaming, you will probably be happy with a 6600GT which will be a lot cheaper solution.

I'll probbly try to find a 6800GT then. I really just built this system for gaming and multimedia. I haven't played any CPU games for 4-5 years, so I decided to build a system and see what I've been missing out on.

What type of multimedia do you plan on using it for?

Well, mainly video editing and burning. I plan on getting a TV tuner card for this CPU. Those look pretty cool. What pretty much made me want to build a CPU, I was looking into getting one of those Panasonic DVD writers than has the built in HD. I was told by a buddy of mine that you could build a CPU that could do that plus tons of other stuff. So, I started looking into it and reading different forums and finally decided on what I was gonna go with. With what I have put together, future upgrades shouldn't be a problem either.
