I need you guys to help me decide on a monitor, as a I can't get myself to pull the trigger anything yet.

The front runner in my mind right is the SAMSUNG 226BW 22", for the most part from all the reviews and comments i've been reading its a great all around monitor, BUT the whole "panel lottery", and possibility of getting 1 of the 3 panel models makes me hesitant to buy one.

The other option for a 22" LCD that performs will in gaming on my mind, is something from DELL. Although more expensive I've read there another top quality brand in the monitor market, which is what I want. With DELL though theres a couple 22" models and I dont know which to stay away from and which a good.

Then recently I found the SAMSUNG 245 24", which looks amazing but I wonder if a 24" monitor is overkill, and that something that big is going to lack in the gaming department, but hey if you own one, let me know how it performs. Suggestions/advice/comments?

-Thanks

Get the 24-inch

6 months from now, this is going to be the mainstrean size. Also, if you get the Samsung 245B, you are sure of getting a Samsung LCD panel, AFAIK, while with the 226CW or Dell 22-inchers, it's a crapshoot.

22-inch widescreens have become commodities.

24" is the way to go. I would even consider 27 - 30" if budget allows. Size matters when it comes to screen real estate.

Oh, so DELL did the same thing with there panel models? Thats really too bad, I dont understand why they do that.

Anyway, would a 450 watt PSU, and X1950XTX be enough for the 245BW?

Why do you think you must play at 1920x1200 ? You can very well play at 1680x1050 or lower ... Native resolution is crucial for office use not for gaming plus the 245BW scale well anyway. Go 24".

Another vote to go 24". I switched from a 22" to my current LCD ($299 at OfficeMax, 8-bit, S-PVA panel) and the different is immense. Like others said, game at whatever resolution you want, LCDs scale fine for games these days.

Are you sure that samsung 245 models all have samsung panels? I just bought a 245B model and its a ls24hubcbq/edc (made in slovakia), does this mean that it is not a samsung panel? Im from europe. Monitor has good picture quality for TN. No dead pixels, very vivid colours. But the viewing angles suck (vertical) and the power button in fornt is very wobbly.

Im pleased with the monitor for the price. But just want to know if this panel is any worse than XAA ( made in china) one?

AMAZING monitor!

I'm having a little problem when using it with my desktop with my X300 which does support 1920x1200 and the image is sharp and all, but there are some not-exactly-horizontal flickering bands on darker colors ... Any ideas as to what might be the problem ? When I plug it in my laptop's X1400 everything's perfectly calm ... I'll change the video card if I need to but prefer to keep it if there is another solution to the problem as I'm not much of a gamer (I suppose Fallout and Fallout 2 would run on a Rage 2C 4MB ) Otherwise the monitor is great and worth the money.
