I'm considering going from a 19" CRT Monitor to a 15" LCD Monitor, would this be a worthy choice?

15" is tiny... i don't think it's worth it. But what kinda stuff do you do on your computer? Why do you want flat panel?

I dont play games, mainly just surf the net and things of that sort. My eyes are straining with my current monitor....so I figured an lcd would help this problem to a degree. Or maybe a better crt monitor?

I did that. It was ok. My 15 LCD ran at 1024x768. It feels like a really good 17". Really crisp clear and no eye strain.

I would like to have a 15" LCD because of it's small size/weight, but I've heard that text doesn't appear as sharp and crisp as it does on a 19" CRT.

Try a better monitor like the Samsung 900NF.

it's not a resolution thing, i've gotten it down to 800x600 at times because my eyes were hurting so much.

I don't see any advantage to spending 3x as much for a slightly smaller screen unless there's a direct digital connection to the LCD for sharpness or if you like to keep large, unshielded speakers right next to the monitor.

ALI7682 Not to state the obvious, but if you have a decently sharp monitor have you tried using the control for color temperature ?Try using 6500K with brightness at 40 to 55 and contrast at about 70%.These of course will vary from monitor to monitor but it's a starting point.Using 9300K would seem to fry my eyes after a while. At first it seemed a little dim (at 6500)but tweaking it got it to where I can surf or whatever for hours with little eyestrain.Of course proper room lighting has a huge bearing on glare and eyestrain so look at that too. Also, you mention a refresh rate of 100HZ.Sometimes things are sharper at 85HZ if thats not too low for you.

You need to tell us more about your current monitor. If it is a flat screen CRT then you may find your eyestrain is removed by switching to a curved monitor (I'm in this boat, as flat CRT monitors make me feel like I will barf). Some people are the opposite, they find their eyes feel better when switching from a curved glass to a flat glass CRT.

Is there a lot of glare or reflections on your monitor. If so either block the light or try an anti-glare screen coating or screen cover. These will be $20 vs. the $500 new monitor cost.

Are you sitting too close or too far from the monitor? Are you sitting above or below the monitor?

I agree with some of the other comments. If you have >.25 dot pitch, then the monitor is crap, get a new one. Also, have you tried to reduce the brightness, contrast, or changed refresh rates?
