I really wish I could supply a picture of it, but I only have a webcam and it doesn't occur at a time when the Webcam is accessible.
I have a ViewSonic P90F monitor, less than a year old. Starting about 2 or 3 days ago, I noticed a small red square in the center of the monitor about 2/3 of the way down the screen when I was loading up Morrowind. It was a little smaller than 1cm by 1cm.
Since then the problem seems to have grown almost exponentially. On the day after I noticed the problem, it became more than a red dot, it became a red dot along with a red vertical line down the center of the screen, pretty much dead center of the screen in fact.
Now, it's grown to the point where at times the red "dot" is the size of a half dollar, with a center point about 2/3 of the way down the screen. The best way to describe it is like imagine a little dwarf with a red lens flashlight (it's not a "full circle dot" sitting inside your monitor and shining it out at you, except the flashlight is sort of running out of batteries.
However, it isn't an ever present thing. It only happens on a black screen, not a rendered black screen, but an actual black, blank screen.
When I say not rendered black, I mean like that point where you first turn on the monitor. Or the blackness you see when you're switching resolutions to like play a game and the point right when you shut down your system right when you turn off the monitor.
I don't know what caused this. I don't know how I would actually search for possible solutions since I don't know what i'm looking for ("Red Dot" seems only to turn up dead pixels on LCDs, I have a CRT).
Any suggestions would be helpful.
I've already tried using a shielded power cable, in fact, I use a shielded hospital grade ("green dot") cable for the monitor. I do have speakers near it but moving them doesn't help nor does it prevent the problem from getting worse. Besides, i've had speakers next to this monitor pretty much the whole time and on my old monitor, nothing's ever happened and if it did, i'd expect it to be on the sides where the speakers are rather than dead center (yes run on sentence, sorry).

Both are less than a year old. And hasn't been used everyday (didn't use it at all during the whole month of August or all during Christmas break).
Update: Now, I can see a tinge of green around the red area. It is most prominent during the bootup resolution changes and when I turn the monitor on and off.
