Still looking for VP930b rev 3 settings.

Anyone? Please say where you got the settings (colorimeter, software [what software?], etc.).

Thanks! and thanks for coming up with this topic idea, xt.

Would this profile import properly into OS X? Mine imported without errors, although I can't really tell if that's how it's supposed to look. It looks darker, and more saturated. Definitely darker than Apple's standard 1.8 gamma. Is it the ideal for text as well?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the late reply.

It should be great for text. In fact, I use this profile mostly for general usage anyway. It should import into Mac OS X fine, I think. I'm not sure about that but any OS should be able to load a gamma table onto a video card.

How do I set xcalib to apply the ICM profile automatically on startup? Will it automatically use the last ICM profile? Should I take out Adobe Gamma from my startup folder?

I haven't fiddled with my ViewSonics (17" and 22") much...figure's not worth it on 6-bit panels...

Make a shortcut to "xcalib file.icm" and put it in the startup folder. Remove Adobe Gamma.

How do you change the contrast setting on the LG L226WT when on sRGB (it's greyed out for me)?

Gamma: 0

Sharpness: 5

One of my co-workers bought the LG L226WT a month ago on my recommendation and has been fighting with the OSD ever since to get a fully satisfying picture quality. Applying these settings made him happy.

Regarding color settings, instead of running profiles, I understand it is possible to directly use the calibration info to manually set the primary color levels (User Preset), understanding that this may vary from monitor to monitor.

To do this, of course, the manual color calibration info should be included under each monitor.

What is driving me nuts with this "testing" is I'm finding that how gamma is set makes a huge difference....how do you set gamma correctly without a sensor? I've been comparing the LG L226WT and HP w2207 and "out of the box" the w2207 has less color/grayscale banding than the LG (with xtknight's profile) with each gamma at default but as soon as I lower the w2207 gamma by .05 it has the same amount of banding as the LG! So it's hard to compare them when I don't know where to set the gamma...

Btw, what are peoples' opinions on this: Is it more important to have minimal color grayscale banding or minimal backlight bleed/better blacks?

I would say, less banding and a more consistent, smooth, untinted grayscale, rather than simply high contrast, particularly for photo editing.

Don't know, I'd try the other util listed here: http://neosmart.net/blog/2007/...istas-gamma-table-bug/

Hmm just noticed my latest 20WMGX2 has no gamma table differences after calibration. The monitor was good enough not to need one bit of calibration. That's just nuts.

If you mean by using a profile generated for one particular unit on another unit instead, yes there can be anywhere from slight to great differences because of manufacturing time or even panel type. What's important to realize is that generally these differences aren't as great as they would be from using no profile at all, so you might as well attempt to calibrate your model/unit as well as you can using what's available to you.

In some cases even using a profile from a monitor with the same panel manufacturer can greatly increase the accuracy of your color setup. For example, AUO panels tend to be pale and bluish by default.

Hi, I also recently bought this particular monitor, and I would also like to request a good profile for it. I tried the one for the L226WT, but it just washed everything out and didn't look right.
Also, I have the 3 panel types in my service menu (CMO22W.4, LPL22W.4, and LPL22W.G.4), and was wondering which one I should be using.
Thanks!

You might want to give the VP930b profile a shot because it's a very similar panel. If you tried that and it didn't look right, let me know. I don't have a VP191b profile though, sorry.

Changing the panel types changes gamma correction a little (at least on my L226WT). The L226WT profile in the OP had the setting "LPL" (and I only had one LPL choice in my service menu). Mine is the L226WT (L226WTX) model, not L226WTQ or L226WTY. I don't know if there's actually a CMO or LPL panel inside of it but I'm not going to void the warranty checking.

Time for another STICKY!!!

This is going to be another excellent resource as more and more people post.

How are the spyder 2 express and the Pantone Huey calibrators. Those seem to be the most popular ones in my price range

Thanks but I don't know about this. I don't want to be taking over the world with all these stickies. I have a link to this thread in the LCD Thread but I'm really hoping we get more colorimeter profiles here.

The Spyder2 express is by far the better option. The Huey sucks. Sorry, but it does at least from the reviews I read. It made primaries just a little better but every other color worse.
