6500K/2.2 for both profiles, the only reason I even did the one using the native 6500K preset is because my monitor wasn't consistently reporting my RGB values.

I don't have the brightness and contrast handy, & at the moment the monitor is slightly out of reach (by 5,000 miles or so). When I get back I can update, & if Integrated Color ever releases their update I can do a new profile with the newer software.

Anyone happen to have a decent profile for the NEC 90gx2? I'm using bassbomb's settings on my 20wmgx2 and they're great, but I can tell my 90gx2 is off by quite a bit. I know they're different panels and even different technologies, but my colorblind eyes aren't able to tell what they need, just that they're different.

Here's my profile for the Eizo S2431W:

R100 G96 B95 and a Brightness-setting of 12% results in 6500K at 120cd/m² within 0.7dE94 as a hardware calibration on my unit (might be slightly different on others).
My profile is calibrated to best match sRGB for picture editing and browsing the web - which also has large benefits in programs that don't use color management. Of course, it only makes sense to use such a profile when your working space is sRGB.
When you edit in AdobeRGB for example, some profile with a gamma value of 2.2 would better fit your needs.

Anyway, here is the link: Eizo_20080330_6500_sRGB_120.icm

By the way: I cannot recommend buying the Spyder2. It may be cheap, but you get what you pay for. I used to have a Spyder2 and while the results in general where okay, dark tone perfomance was weak. It seems that the device cannot take good measurements from anything below 0.4 cd/m² (which would be your detail in dark areas of the screen).

I've recently been using new settings for my monitor

7.8 Brightness
100 Contrast

It nets very similar results to my older settings, but for some reason I feel like 100 contrast will come out better? There really is no overall difference

I've got a color profile for the new LG227WTG. I don't have any webspace to host it so if you have webspace and can host it that would be great. Anyway settings are as follows(calibrated via Spyder2 and Coloreyes Display pro)

* LG L227WTG

Settings:
Brightness: User preference(However the default 100 comes out to 200 cd/m2 which I find works well in day and night.
Contrast: 60
Red: 50
Green: 44
Blue: 45

Fengine: user(turns dynamic contrast off)

This results in a dE average of .45 (With the CEDpro .icc profile loaded)

Thanks! Added to OP. Do you remember which contrast setting you used?

The contrast setting was unchanged, at 50%. I don't even know why they enabled the contrast setting when you use the digital signal... but anyway

So if you take a ICM file for your monitor and set it as the default, should you see a change in the picture or am I totally misunderstanding what it does?

Not necessarily. You are loading in gamut information (metadata used by Photoshop to help determine your monitor's capabilities) only, by doing that (most of the time). Please read the numerous guides online about how to actually apply ICC profiles (in other words, actually uploading the ICC's color correction lookup table to the video card or graphics system).

I loaded the ICC profile from this thread for the LG L227WTG. At which point I saw the display adjust accordingly to the profile.

My question is, it says I can set the brightness to whatever I want, if I want to change it, do I just use the OSD controls? The settings there don't match what the profile set as far as I can tell. Is that normal?

I'm finding 100% too bright for my taking, I'd like to take it down to 90 or so, but I don't want to mess up the profile settings already there.

I finally got my hands on a colorimeter and tried to calibrate by NEC 20WMGX2.

I aimed for 6500 K and sRGB and got the following result:

Brightness error = -11.830000 cd/m^2
White point error = 0.663961 deltaE
Maximum neutral error (@ 0.913608) = 3.197052 deltaE
Average neutral error = 2.056484 deltaE

Am I right to think that this is not that great? I'm using Argyll CMS under Linux to do the calibration. There's something different the software does called profiling that I haven't tried yet and I remain somewhat hazy on the difference.

Also I noticed as I was doing this that sometimes if I leave a window in one place for a while then when I move it it leaves a persistant afterimage on the display. (Like I could read text off the afterimage for a couple minutes.) Is this normal behavior?

I am no guru, but the profiles listed above that have brightness at 100% - Isn't that detrimental in the long run? Brightness can never go above 100% and as the backlight fades over time, I would think that you could never achieve those settings again. Where as if you had brightness at 50%, over time, it would be like 40%, so you would adjust by setting it for 60% or so, and so on... Sorry for the poorly written post. Just something I was thinking off of the top of my head.

Does it matter that the Nokia software "is a collection of test's that can be used to check CRT monitor performance."

CRT? Is it effective with an LCD?
