Monitor Selection Help Please

Hai Friends,

I am going to buy a 19" monitor from Dell.

I am confused when i am about to buy. Currently I am looking for a regular 19" monitor rather than a widescreen

I saw two different monitors in dell which has DVI-D link.

One model the ULTRASHARP 1908FP. The other is SP 1908FP.

I am really confused which monitor to buy. What is the difference between these two.

Please keep in mind the fact that I am a graphics designer. So i am a little colour conscious. I also do game a lot.

Which of these monitor is Better? I would really go for the better one.

Looks like the SP 1908FP has a glossy screen, which may help improve color and contrast -- something you probably want as a graphics designer. The older Ultrasharp has the matte finish. IMO, glossy is probably better for gaming too.

The SP sounds like a good compromise for you. Usually and S-IPS panel is best for graphic design work, but they are much more expensive and are worst for gaming due to slow b-b refresh times (often 16ms or more)

(Just keep in mind the amount of glare you may get on a glossy screen. Fine if you are in a room with no windows Bad if you have lots of natural light behind you)

It really helped.... Anyway I will go for the Sp version ratherthan the ultrasharp version.

But i do have a window behind me and its transparent so there will be natural light. Anyway Colour reproduction is more important for me than ultra performance.

So i guess the SP version is the best buy......

1440x900 is pretty low resolution. You'll be losing a lot of vertical pixels. You'll have trouble with the window behind you unless you block it. You don't want the sun reflecting off the monitor and into your eye.

The SP 1908FP is not a widescreen monitor (its 4:3) and has a max resolution of 1280x1024.

true, its not a widescreen. Colour is more important for me than glare....

I already placed an order with DELL INDIA. I sure hope that they have fast shipments.... Dont know about the warranty and aftersales support, But I sure hopes that with DELL I never have to RMA... At least i think

Placed the order today and sent payment through Demand Draft. It will reach there Monday morning.... I cant wait to have my monitor delivered.....
