Monitor setting for R9 290?

Which would give me better gaming experience, a 21.5 inch 1080p IPS monitor or 40 inch 1080p Sony tv? Pixel density matters but I'll be naturally sitting much farther than against monitor when playing on tv. Thanks in advance! I'm currently upgrading from a 18.5 inch 720p monitor.

The 21.5 inch monitor would let you sit 2.9 feet away. You'd get the same visual experience (how much viewing angle the display fills your view) with the 40 inch by sitting 5.4 feet away.

So, the 40 in TV would grant you an additional 2.5 feet of viewing distance, if you like to sit back enough to where it feels like the 21.5 inch from about 3 feet away.

But, for gaming, some might say the IPS would have nice colors. True, but maybe you will not be paying as much attention to the colors during a game?

I'd ignore the pixel density, because that's irrelevant and interchangeable between these displays because you just sit closer or further away depending on what screen size.

You need to answer this yourself by figuring out the pros and cons for your gaming habits, the answer is subjective. Do you want to sit close (monitor) or far away (TV)? What type of games do you play? Action = TV, MOBA = monitor. Do you use the 360 pad on a couch (TV) or a mouse/kb (monitor)? Do you plan on doing productivity on it? (monitor)

I think the best answer is both, but you need to figure this one out yourself. There is no best. There is only subjective. It's entirely subjective depending on type of game, control scheme, and personal preference really.
