Monitor Upgrade - Which One?

Hi all,
I am looking to replace one of my 3 monitor setup (ASUS VE248H) with a 27" - 1440p. I mostly play RTS games (D3, SC2, TQ), NFS & FO4. I really want a good color quality image (IPS) and still play those games in full resolution on the 27".

Here is my rig:
Intel 6700K
Gigabyte Z170x GT
G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 16GB DDR4 3000
Corsair Hydro Series H110i GT
ZOTAC GeForce GTX 980 Ti AMP! Extreme
SAMSUNG SSD 850 PRO 1TB SATA III
Intel SSD 730 Series 480GB
Mushkin SSD Enhanced Chronos Deluxe 250GB
Phanteks Enthoo Pro Series

I looked at the ASUS PB278Q, and it is highly regarded as one of the best monitor ($599 in Canada)

Then I saw the Acer XB270HO with G-Sync which is supposed to be better. But the price is $899.

Would I see a difference between those 2? And is it really worth $300 more?

Thanks for all your feedback!

Does screen tearing bother you? Evidently some people don't see it or are not bothered by it. Personally I can't stand it so to me it is worth some money to get rid of it, however $300 is more than my 27" IPS monitor cost in the first place.

If screen tearing does bother you, would you consider v-sync as a viable method of eliminating the tearing?

G-sync is like super v-sync.

I don't really see any lag or tearing with my setup right now. Is there a possibility that I might see those with a bigger screen?

There are a great number of display faults that no one notices, until they do. I should think that a 24 inch monitor would be plenty big enough to notice screen tearing but of course a larger monitor will magnify any defects.

The funny thing is that the more you know about defects the more you see them and the more they drive you crazy so ignorance is bliss.

V-sync is the traditional way to fight screen tearing. I keep v-sync on all the time because I don't care for screen tearing. V-sync is an option if you become sensitive to screen tearing. G-sync sounds even better but v-sync might be good enough for you.

I could list a ton of screen defects that you would want to avoid if you were in search of the perfect monitor but as I said earlier ignorance is bliss. The worst thing I ever did was learn more about monitors and their faults. Now I see the faults and they bug me.

That curved Sammy is "only" 1080p...

Also, and this is just me taking, but I like flat screens the best because they don't pick up as much stray light. For years we had curved screens that would reflect every stinking light in the room. Sony came out with screens that were only curved in one direction (one gun, one lens) and that was a big improvement. When flat screens finally came I was sold. There will be no going back to curved screens, not for me anyhow.
