Monitor upgrade worth it?

Right now i am using a $100 KDS CRT i got from walmart over the summer. IT has decent colors, etc, but the highest rez it will do it 1280x1024@60hz. This refresh rate can bother my eyes in some games, and i was considering an LCD for 250ish. Is it worth upgrading, or should I just stick with the CRT? I have an x800xt, so id like to run games at 1280x1024 without flickering

Be nice to your eyes..........

The 60 CRT refresh is definetly too low and will cause discomfort for most eyes.
The lowest official recommended rate for eye comfort is 70 or 72.

Get another monitor..be it CRT or LCD but make sure its going to treat you well.

Any suggestions in the 220-250 dollar range?

the top one, for 260, its on sale. It has DVI and 1280x1024 native rez, anything else you recommend?

question .. i play bf2 at 1280x1024 @ 60hz with the following setup..

DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+
Corsair XMS 2GB (1GBx2) PC3200
BFG 7800 GT OC
Audigy 2 ZS
74GB WD Raptor/80GB WD Caviar
Antec TruePower 2.0

sometimes i feel like things aren't running as smoothly as they should in special forces with everything on high and 4xaa/8xaf .. things aren't completely smooth. is it possible that this low refresh rate i have to play at is causing the sometimes unsmoothness?

note: i'm on a cheap Logisys crt .. 15.5" viewable =-o .. i really think an upgrade would be worthwhile to complement my system?
