In other words, LG has sold a lot of A+ 1440P ultra wide panels, and has enough A- panels to sell ...

It's a shame that these LG panels aren't FreeSync. At prices like these that would be a killer offering.

The only curved LG panels I know of that support FreeSync are in the Acer XR341CK... which is still $900-$1000 unless you shop for a refurb.

i came across a npr podcast about monoprice and general oem process. the guy seemed to indicate they dont use A- panels. they got started in the display business when a buyer there found the factory that apple was getting their cinemadisplay panel from. the factory expanded there production capability but apple didnt increase their orders. that's how we got all those cheaper A+ 27 and 30 inch ips models from all the other makers including monoprice.

while i do like the 21:9 AR, if im gonna upgrade i need a real increase in vertical res(40" 4k 75hz ips or va for me) but at this price it is tempting as an interim.

Im skeptical that Monoprice actually knows if the monitor is 75hz or not. They have a history of misrepresenting monitor specs. They recently sold a 1600p 30in monitor as "120hz overclockable" that frameskipped if you went so much as 1hz over 60 for example.

I hope that they are able to bring this to market as planned. This will begin the price wars for 34" curved displays and make them affordable to the masses. What I would really like to see is one in 16:10 to have extra vertical height.

Been sorely tempted to get the ACER G-Sync but kept holding off to see what would happen when the ASUS version comes out. Not sure what's keeping them from releasing but I just might give up and go for one of these and forget about g-sync for now.

Considering "quality" of those A+ panels this one will be display for truly brave customers

The "quality" there seems to be entirely in the parts of the monitor behind the panel, tbh. Dell and LG have been making solid derivatives of the panel for a while.

I wonder when this panel will be available? For that price it's a hard bargain compared to the name brand panels.

Probably more like there are now enough A+ panels that LG can quit using the B grade panels and sell them to the bargain brands? One can only hope.

I really need a larger display right now so I'm hoping that prices on the 34" curves will drop soon and that the panel will be of good quality.

I saw the news about the cheap Monoprice 21:9 announcement but.. it's kind of ugly looking compared to Dell's monitor with the sides having that typical glossy indented plastic vs. Dell's flat bezel-less design. And Dell's 21:9 34" was on sale today for $680, with no tax or shipping and my credit card's 5% Amazon discount effectively drops it to $646 so I just ordered it. And from the reviews I've read, the Dell can be overclocked to 75hz without problem.. unlike LG's own display model.

Also my company is paying for it so that made the decision easier haha.

I was eyeballing that LG curve again until I started reading about the tilted displays. Seems to be hit and miss on whether or not you get a droopy stand. I'd really like to see the Dell drop nearer to $600, especially since it has a 3 year warranty on it. LG forces you to buy a 3rd party warranty provider who has a very high complaint ratio for anything they service.

I've looked at their site which offers several name brands of monitors so I don't know for sure what their warranty policy is. After careful consideration I ended up ordering the hp envy 34c this morning from microcenter and will add the hp 3 year next day replacement warranty to it for piece of mind.

Argh! When is this monitor coming out? Thought they said 1st quarter.

I got tired of waiting and ended up getting two Asus PB258Q (25" 2560x1440p) for $540. It isn't a single curved display, but it's higher resolution and much smaller bezel than I had previously so it's still a good upgrade for me.

Shame it's taking so long to come out though.

Glad you guys will be getting a cheaper panel

I waited way to long to make the jump to 1440p,QNIX and other names made me a little nervous but hell with buying a Dell or Samsung at marked up prices so i made the dive.So far i am beyond happy.

Seems at least now the A- panels are really worth considering, good stop gag measure till 4k is mature and some single gpu can finally play games.

Zombie thread!

This thing got delayed, unfortunately.

21:9 1440 is really something, I picked up that 34 LG a while back and I really cant go back. Just wish it was curved/had some kind of -sync with it.

I was thinking about this thread the other day and still don't regret buying my hp envy 34c. I've been able to do productivity work on it that just wasn't possible on my old 27" 1200p monitor. As I type this I have three windows side by side. Recently I had to do some diagramming using Visio and it was so large that if I still had the old monitor I wouldn't have been able to see it on my screen. I've also got some large accounting spreadsheets that can now be displayed in full that just wasn't possible before. I'll never go back to a small or flat panel again. Even my mom is sold on the curve as she just got a new hp for herself which makes it so much easier on her eyes.

I had already bought a 40" 4K waiting for 34" to drop... when this comes out I just might go for it.

I've been waiting on a monitor to upgrade from my 1080P 32" Panasonic IPS HDTV for WAY too long. This seems perfect. I've wanted to get something different for awhile but there was always a trade off. This seems like its got everything I've wanted but the delays are killing me

I would say to keep monitoring the sales on these wide screens and see if the prices drop again or set a price alert so you can get notified when it happens so you don't miss it. MicroCenter dropped their prices earlier this year to the lowest I've seen yet but they didn't stay there long.
