Because HDMI is all digital, any noise isn't going to matter. There's no point in paying $14 when you can get something just as good on ebay straight from hongkong for $4 free shipping. Even the most simple chinese cable has the shielding needed.

No, that's not entirely true. It certainly matters far less than if it were an analog cable, but HDMI runs over distance, espeically if they're going in a wall, can be affected by the quality of the cable.

Not saying a 14ft cheapo cable won't be just as good as this monster cable, but...

I agree at a usual 6ft length you're better off buying whatever is cheapest.

Cheap cables are still prone to rigid jackets, poor connectors, ect. Overpriced or not, Monster does still produce a well constructed cable that at this price is worth the relatively small premium over the no names.

I have one almost no-name HDMI cable, and my cable to tv connection produces static on screen, never saw anything like that in digital cable... but other cable works just fine

While I get very good cable from monoprice for cheap. This size from monster for this price is too good to pass up. We all know that monster cable is overpriced but at a comparable price to other cables, it's generally the superior product.

14-15 foot hdmi is still around $10 shipped on amazon marketplace from e-forcity or one of those stores. and thats usuall 28 gauge stuff.

so this monster cable is probably a thicker cable than that with better shielding. i am not sure how much that matters, but it might, so for the $4 extra its probably worth it. The link doesnt say the wire gauge, but i'm assuming its 24 or 26. If you look on a place like monoprice they charge quite a bit more for the higher thickness cables.

I don't get the emphasis on gold plated connectors. That is the most useless feature of this cable. Who cares if its gold plated, if all the solder points int he TV are tin.
