I would like to see some sort of head-to-head build competition between these guys.

Who do you think does better work?

The monster garage guys gotta do so much more work and planning. American chopper just keeps making bikes. They don't even branch to other kinds of bikes, just Harleys.

Monster Garage has to deal with so many new concepts and platforms. I've seen a truck turned into a motorcycle launcher, RX-7 dune buggy, porsche golf ball picker-upper, and a damn portable wedding chapel on Monster Garage.

EDIT: Of course, Monster Garage has a much bigger pool of talent to pull on each time, too.

We just had a bike shop open up here recently that sells OCC bikes. I haven't ventured in to see what the prices are, but I'm sure they cost a pretty penny.

When has OCC (which is a brand) ever built a Harley (which is a brand)?

You know what I mean. Harley being such a force, it automatically comes to mind when I think of those kinds of bikes.

Yah, I know, just giving you a hard time.

I thought they were always distinctly different, primarily due to the stretched out front wheel. Most Harleys I see around town look almost identical to all the others.

I prefer AC over MG, but the arguing between the Teutels (sp?) gets annoying. I like MG, but it seemed for a while they were having some pretty absurd projects (an alter I believe, the hot dog thing, etc.).

Monster Garage hands down.

Jesse James just looks much more scary. Not as big, but he just looks scary as hell. Kinda like the guy who would be a great friend, but if you were to piss him off .. . .well ...

Anyhow American Chopper reminds me of the Jerry Springer of Motorcycle shows. Screwed up family.

This is the only other post that makes sense in this thread:beer:

I would like to see that. I haven't seen all that many examples of West Coast Choppers ... but the custom work from OCC is sweeeet. I am sure they are very comparable.

well between those two i watch american chopper every time. Monster garage has had a few kewl ones, but just not really my thing. Now if you toss in monster house and maybe junkyard wars, then I'd be hard pressed to pick a clear winner.

Just for clarification, not a single piece of hardware that goes into either an OCC or WCC bike has anything whatsoever to do with Harley Davidson. At all....

WCC start out ant about 25 grand. You can buy an OCC kit bike for around 16-20 grand.
Kit meaning no paint, chrome, powder coating etc.
I would preffer the WCC bike though every thing is made in house, by them frame, tank and the exhaust.
OCC buys most of thier parts from vendors and modifiy these parts.
My brother is looking to buying a chopper and has spent several hours on the phones to both places, he seems to be leaning toward the WCC bike as they will fashion the frame to fit him at 5'8".
The OCC frame is made for someone around 6'5".
His quotes from both places
OCC 55-60k
WCC 50-60k

you can't compare the "quality of work" done between occ and mg; they are two completely different types of entities... with mg, you take into account what they can build, how successful it is in relation to the beginning instructions, and the time limit it is done in... with occ you are looking at the fine craftsmanship of a thoroughly planned out motorcycle... you can't compare the two at all, two diff. processes

Too bad it is so hard to improve on Japanese sport bikes. Lot's of trick motor parts and such, but tampering with the geometry and frame would just screw up near perfection.

I like 'em both, although I don't know why.

I think Monster Garage is probably a bit better
