Monthly shower towels

Jesus fuck this isn't difficult.
Yes towels used to dry you after properly showering get dirty eventually. Once per use is OCD weird shit, but once a week is fine.

It's almost as if life likes damp and dark environments. So short of having your towel perfectly dried rapidly in the sun after each use, yes it will eventually not be so clean.

my towel rack is right above the heater vent in the bathroom.... quick dry towels in the winter and frozen towels in the summer (central a/c ftw)

We generally go two weeks per change in my house, although a common sense sniff test is employed regularly to ensure towels that need a change sooner are changed sooner.

Additionally, we're a Japanese washcloth household, so all the dark smelly crevices on our bodies are scrubbed clean before we leave the bath. None of this slap some body wash on it and call it clean crap.

By the 2nd week those towels must smell pretty bad. Does not matter if you're clean when you use them it's still something that got wet without soap, then air dried, then got wet again. After a while that will start to smell.

Once a week seems to be a fairly decent happy medium imo. If I try to go past that they will start to have a musty smell. Same with hand towels after washing hands.

If you shower properly, ie clean your ass, then monthly is fine. Your body should be clean when using the towel, so therefore the towel should be mostly clean as well. Just sayin. I myself change em weekly but I live alone so its only me.

That's funny. Doubt anyone here actually scrubs enough to leave a towel clean enough to be used for weeks. Skin cells slough...a lot...and can encourage bacterial/whatever growth that accompanies the skin cells. Add in a warm, moist, dark environment and those towels are just a petri dish of growing crap.

It's not always about the dirt.

I use two towels each week, alternating between them. So Monday is Towel A, Tuesday is Towel B, Wednesday is Towel A, etc.

Most of the time the humidity in the house is controlled, either because the AC is running, or the heat. A towel that is hung on a rack, over the shower door frame, etc., will dry in an hour or so. Nothing has a chance to grow.

The waste of water, soap, and energy to wash and dry towels after every use is completely unnecessary. Detergents in wastewater is also a pollutant, and leads to cancer causing chemicals in drinking water from any source downstream from a sewage treatment plant.

Unless you do some work or activity everyday that is manual and sweaty and dirty, you don't need to shower every day.

I always dry my crotch area first. That way all the pheromones get distributed all over my body as I dry the rest of myself. When I don't I actually have to put in a little effort to land the next supermodel. This way, they come to me.
