I'm much more of a Belgian beer guy... Double, Tripels, Quads, Abbey Ale.... any of those. The stronger the alcohol and more full of flavor the better.

Brasseurs de Montreal added to my list

Dieu du Ciel and Le Trois brassuer were already on my list, definitely want to check them out

Le Saint Bock, BENELUX, Pub L'Ile Noire, and Maison des Vins were also on my list, any word if they are any good?
I haven't been, but I've heard Benelux is good too. If you'll try the poutine and or shawarma after drinking I highly recommend the garlic chicken/beef poutine from Shawarmaz on Peel. Even the "small" is a lot of damn food and it's freaking delicious. Chef On Call also makes a great poutine (and great chicken burgers too for that matter), are open very late and are just up the street from 3 Brasseurs / Brutopia on Crescent. There are too many poutine places to name, not all are great.. but those two stood out for me. Oh, and Brasseurs de Montreal actually makes a great poutine too.

Feels weird to keep reading "smoked meat". Sounds so generic. We call that barbecue around these parts (I know you weirdos seem to refer to any form of grilling as BBQ but it ain't).
It's called Montreal Smoked Meat.

I've been in -13 C when I was in Russia, so this can't be any worse.
Uh, yes it can. Unfortunately, February is about the worst time of the year to visit Montreal. Right now it's -14 C, and it will be colder in the evenings. Montreal frequently hits the -20s. Plus if you drive, it can be a disaster, because of the hills.

Good to know, it was THE place to go back when I was there, but yeah guess it changed.
? Olympic Stadium was built literally over 40 years ago, and that area hasn't really been very interesting since then (unless you count the concrete blocks falling off the stadium as interesting). When were you there?

Huh, never heard of it, and I guess I didn't take away from the article that it was a specific style, not just "smoked meat". From what I'm reading it does not sound like my cup of tea.

Well I admit it's been a while like probably like 15-20 years ago. Went with family once, then as a school outing the second time. They had lot of stuff, a lot of it science oriented, but maybe all that's gone now.

Biodome is still there. But I don't see many adults willing to go to that.

Adult here. I went to Montreal and to the Biodome a few years ago. The butterfly exhibit there was awesome...looks like it's still there but I'm not sure if it's permanent and/or seasonal.

Montreal is also home to my favorite restaurant anywhere, Joe Beef. We feasted there and closed the place out one late night. I'm kind of a food snob but that place easily surpassed every expectation I had.

Ok. Montreal is pretty convenient. You either Metro or walk to the tourist areas. May want to skip mont-royal since hiking it in the winter sucks. Biking is also out for March.

Definitely try Montreal Smoked Meat.

Lester's has the best smoked meat. Definitely go hit up some poutine at La Banquise. Get some Montreal style bagels, they aren't really that much better but they are a local thing. Get some Andrees Chocolate.

BTW you'll need some ear plugs for the metro since the trains have pneumatic drive wheels and it's loud and annoying.

I haven't been to the Olympic Stadium itself, but the Botanical Garden is next to it, and I actually enjoyed it quite a bit, the grounds are gorgeously kept, definitely not a dump. I went in August though, March isn't a good time for this.
