Rebuild taller than the Petronas Towers and call it the Phoenix Center or something fitting like that.

As I understand it, the NYPD headquarters were located in the WTC, which compounded today's situation

The NYPD is not headquartered there. They have their own facility about 1/4 mile away at One Police Plaza.

I think they should rebuild it. I sure as hell wouldn't want to work in whatever new building is put up though.

they need to rebuild them bigger than before and make the 7 tower the monument with the two world trade centers as the biggest buildings in the world , they need to build it stronger too , i hear the beams were 3 feet of solid steal ? hell make them 9 feet .... and at the top of both of them light it yellow like the empire state buildng does .... yellow for the mourning of all those poor souls who died in a war they didn't even know was waged.

Manhatten is only so big, and 150,000 people would be in the complex during peak hours. Where would they all go? They must build new towers and dedicate them to those who died. But the new towers should be built to withstand allot. And they will, they will design the new ones with what just happened in mind, also with the bombings and missle attacks that may occur in the future. Heck they may build them so good, they may evacuate the president TO the towers. LOL no.... But we should have supertower in the name somewhere...

I agree with the majority rebuild the towers, somehow fortify them with every steel/concrete super strength material known to man today with possible radar installed to detect aircraft headed that way.

Also a monument at the bottom would be nice, and something on top to show just how strong America's resolve is.

CAPN - Why do you say call it the "Phoenix Center"? That guy that predicted all this would happen on the google groups was named Xinoehpoel...

spelled backwards it reads LEO PHEONIX.. wierd...

My fear is that rebuilding it would give the terriorists a new resolve to destroy it again. It's like a kid whos sand castle is knocked down by a bully, and then the kid rebuilds it, only to see it knocked down again. They should put a monument there. :frown:

Hey used the name Phoenix center because in the greek (I think it was greek) legend, the phoenix rose from the ashes.

well...considering the value of real estate in the city, i would guess they will rebuild the towers. and they will most likely build a memorial there to honor those who's lives were lost.

I say rebuild them, but build them twice as tall, 10 times as strong, just to show that anything they destroy, we can replace twice over...

I do think a massive memorial should be there as well, perhaps 10 or 15 floors of the new buildings? Something in the middle of the buildings?

As for saftly, just put a pair of Patriot SAM batteries on the roof, it would never be allowed to happen again anyway...

This morning Guliani said that they will rebuild. He doesn't know in what form, but it will be done.

<< Just got something from a friend, "Personally, I'd like to see three towers built in their place, with
the middle one much taller than the other two. That way, it would look like a
giant middle finger, directed straight at the fvckers who did this."

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I would like to think that's unAmerican...

the rebuilding would be the monument. no monument could stand as tall or be as significant as rebuilding the towers stronger and bigger than before. then put plaques at the top to remind us.

As a symbol, I think we should rebuild, but, I don't know who'd want to work there after this. Knowing you are once again a target... I don't think it'd go over well with our work force. Sure we are supposed to get over it, but, realistically, folks will NOT want to work there and corporations will not want to move in there for that reason. Before it was just a fear it could happen there, now it has.

I could be wrong, but, I know *I* would be afraid to work there. Then again, That's why I don't live in NY.

Whatever is done, it must be designed against the type of fire that took down these buildings. The building survived the collision, but not the liters of jet fuel that caught fire, essentially melting the columns and beams....

I agree... rebuild the whole complex with a monument symbolizing all the towers stand for, at the top

This doesn't mean anything because the word is: P-H-O-E-N-I-X, not pheonix. Just like it's: W-E-I-R-D, and not wierd. Reading someone's nickname backwards isn't any type of giant mystery either. If that's what he intended he would have just called himself Leo Phoenix, or he would have scrambed the meaning more difficultly.

Rebuild...show these fvckers that they can never tear them down! While they're at it, build them higher than those towers in Malaysia.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that JP40 jet fuel did NOT catch on fire. There had to be other explosives involved. You can hold a match to JP40 all day long and it won't do squat. I thought you all would have learned this after the mis-guided thinking used in the TWA Flight 800 disaster.
