Actually, it looks more like one of those boxes you cut a hole into to look at the Sun's reflection, if you are blinding yourself and looking in the box, that is.

Get some moon filters. I took this one a while ago:

Filters aren't needed. The full moon can be treated as a neutral gray object lit by full sun. The old "Sunny 16" rule is a very good place to start, which would be to set the shutter manually to f/16 and the speed to the reciprocal of the ISO setting. For example if the ISO is 400 then use a shutter speed of 1/400. For ISO 100 you would shoot at 1/100 sec and so on.

i took this with my iphone holding it up to the eyepiece of my telescope. i can get a lot closer but picture quality drops when i do that. This is my favorite picture of the moon so far.

Basic rule for telescopes. Max magnification is not the best factor in determining the quality of a scope.
