Moonshine or store bought ?

So what do you get when youre gonna get loaded, and why ?
Here in Sweden almost all (I know atleast ) drink moonshine since its cheap (5 liters=~30$), easy to get and dont taste that bad (if you mix it right ).
I always get store bought (Bacardi lemon most of the time) since I have trouble handling anything stronger than 35% (moonshine here is minimum 40%).

And please do not bring up BEER here, thats a whole thread on its own

Ok I live in Sweden too and I have had moonshine ONE time in my life when I was 16 or something and couldn't get hold of anything else. Today I wouldn't have a clue where to get moonshine and I don't know anyone who drinks it. I mean it's not that expensive to get hammered in a perfectly safe and healthy way with store bought alcohol

Please tell me you live way up north and I'll understand

In Sweden ?, It happens every year that some die or gets injured, mainly beacuse they buy crap moonshine from ppl they dont know.
I know there were ALOT (over 50) of ppl killed or injured in some country not that long ago after drinking a whole truckload of bad moonshine, cannot remeber which country though.

This september about 20 or 30 estonians were killed at a party by some moonshine that contained a lot of metanol(that's the dangerous stuff right?). So it can be bad for you.

On the other hand most violent crime in Sweden at least is alcohol related.

My cousins live in the north of Sweden and a lot of people up there make their own stuff. Kinda hard though if you have a one bedroom apartment in the city like me.

I knew a guy that was blind because of moonshine. He found his dad's setup in the barn, and figured hey, if you distill it one time, doing it twice should make it twice as strong! Well, at 13, his body just couldn't handle it, and he went partially blind.

Ouch, thats not a good idea at all, distilling it once gives you 90+% alcohol if you know what youre doing, if you run it again and dont know what youre doing there is a chance the whole process fails and you get metanol in it, thats what can make you go blind or even die.
