Computers connected on this router can share files just as if it was a switch. Some routers, linksys namely, have a "built in switch" which gives each computer a max 100Mb/s bandwidth. This router does not appear to have that, therefore all computers have to share the 100Mb/s of bandwidth. This isn't a big deal if you only have 4 computers connected though, in the event that all machines are using a high amount of bandwidth they still each get 25Mb/s theoretically.
Switches are pretty much overkill until you get 20 or more PC's coming into play. 10/100 hubs are fine.
