I will keep you posted on the deals I find/see.
As for the additional markdown schedule, once an item goes 30% off, 2 weeks after that it will go 50%, then another 2 weeks it will go 75% which is USUALLY the final markdown. If they still have too many items left after the 75% markdown, it's not unusual for them to go 85% to 90% off. Keep in mind the additional markdowns vary. Sometimes an item will be 30% off then suddenly go 75%. This is what happened with the vacuums. If I'm waiting for an item to go down, I keep going in and scanning it.
Some items (especially in Electronics) won't go 75% off. Lately they've only been marking (some) items down 50% and that's it.
If the items has a clearance sticker on it (small red/orange color) in the upper right corner, in very small print will be a number with an "A" after it. That is the percent off it is.
Another way of knowing an item is on final markdown is if the price ends in 4. This, however is not always the case. See above. I've seen items that show 75% off on the sticker but may end in something other than 4 (example - 8.90). If you see something like this the item will go down alittle further, usually not much.
If you ever take something to a scanner and it scans "CLRN" (something like that) you can take it to guest service or any register, tell them it's scanning clearance and they need to do an override to get the correct price.
If something scans "not on file", they will need to go into the network to find the last price it sold at. They also have access to other stores clearance merchandise and can see what other stores last sold it for. This sometimes gets messy as alot of clerks don't know how to do this. If you're lucky the item will have an old clearance sticker on it and you can tell them that obviously it would have gone 75% off. That's usually good enough for them.
If you find something and the price ends in 6, this is an item that is no longer in their computer system at all. They just pick a price and put it on there. Usually it's higher than it actually sold for at 75% off. In a case like this, there's nothing you can do.
Always, Always, Always, Scan Everything! Regardless of what the sticker says.
