Petrol prices here are out of this world, not only that I have to decide:

PC hobby, Car hobby, PC hobby, car hobby, ARGH! >>



I know the feeling! Luckily being off ill for all of last week and half of this week means that i've saved a little on petrol!

I get about 12 miles per £1 from my car, and i only do from mine to a mate's to college and back every day, plus a little extra at weekends!

So I should be able to pay a cc bill or two without problems and have money for more components. >>

I dont charge my friends or family, but my friends dont have so many problems. Im really not sure how I did this, its got me worried that I forgot something big...

Considering it's Friday, it won't ship til Monday at the earliest (my guess). I've never had a problem with Newegg shipping...they are fast! I've never had to pay for upgraded shipping as in the 5 orders I've placed it's been here within 3 days from the time I ordered (giving them one day to get it shipped to begin with).

Yeah, I know I should have gone with the default shipping, but I like getting things sooner. Everytime I make a purchase its like the days before xmas. You wait and wait and wait and each day you get closer but that next day feels even longer!

Looks like it will take unregistered DDR ram, so long as no more than 2 slots are filled, so should keep the cost down a little more!

Most of the time, yes IJimp. If they do not do 1.33 you will have to unlcok the multiplyer to do 7.5 x 133 as I am not sure if the tyan board canonly do 100 FSB.

Gosh I don't understand the sudden Duron love here. An Athlon XP board would be in order, would it not?

Or are you telling me that a $70-$90 Athon XP board (with additional chip) is not a better crunching value per dollar as compared to this and a Duron? Morgan cores are ~~~~SO~~~~~ over I thought.

Anyway, I was planning to wait until Sledgehammer comes around before I replace the Duron system I have now. (Then of course the Duron goes to dad and mom, and their current Celeron becomes a server, because nothing gets thrown away around here if it still has an ounce of usefulness in it ).

Well, here's my plan of hand-me-downs!

Mum buys K6 233 about 4 years ago
I upgrade to Duron 700 with KT7, but keeping some parts from old system
Upgrade to Athlon 1GHz
Find bits to build up 233 as server
Buy dual Celeron board and build it up with bits and turn it into server
Rebuild K6 233 for mum
Get new motherboard for me (K7S5A) This was about 3 weeks ago!
Lend KT7 to mate cos his mobo died
Now we get to today, and all from now is hoping!
Upgrade to Tyan Tiger
Give K7S5A and Duron to mum
Sell KT7 when get back from mate


Wonder if it'll work! :Q Just have to persuade mum that it is a deal of the year and won't be able to beat it, and that she'll get a faster computer out of it.....
