I saw this earlier but with all the memory problems I have with Crucial and Tiger MP, I didn't placed any order. Maybe I should buy at least 1.

Does anyone know whay these boards are refurbs?

FYI, Newegg prices on XPs are lower today.

I ordered one and was planning on running a pair of 1900 XP chips that I already have and now someone tells me that it will not work with the XP. They say it only works with the MP, regular Athlon or the Durons. Anybody got any input on this? Perhaps a link to an article or revue that tells?

Dual Athlon XP's will work (99.9% positive, not heard anything that i can remember that says they don't) BUT Tyan and AMD do not support it. They only support Athlon MPs (cos they're more expensive )

I'm hoping to put a pair of Athlon 1GHz in there if i can get one, if not then a pair of probably Duron 700s!

If you get the 1GHz AXIA TBirds, you should be able to run them at 1.33GHz (it's got to be the 200fsb "B" chip) by setting the fsb to 133. Almost all the AXIA 1GHz cpu's I have will do that at default voltage.

I already have a 1GHz Axia 200fsb in my rig at the moment (this will be going into the Tyan), and it's currently sitting, on an ECS K7S5A at 1467MHz at 49C, and it will sit quite happily at 1333 at default voltage as well

You bums DO realize that when I saw this thread yesterday, I bought one... right? :Q

If that's true that they don't have to have MPs in them (the cheapest are still a bit much), then that'll be cool. A pair of cheap gig or so T-birds would be nice.

Poof, i've not heard anything about regular Athlons, Durons, Duron Morgans or Athlon XPs not working, apart from i think i might have heard something about the very newest AXPs, where you have to connect one of the L5 bridges (but it's a lot easier than the L1, you don't have to worry about insulating it before you put the conductive stuff on IIRC)

ConfusedBW,

What's this thing about the new AXP's? Can you clarify? Maybe put a link.
Thanks

Yes, very interesting. I wonder how long AMD will leave those bridges out there like that. I have a Duron 700 that I did the L1 mod on, but I would think that a T-bird would be a better deal in the dual (cost-wise) than an XP, especially if it'll go in there and work out of the box without any modding (especially since the 1.2s and below T-birds are unlocked).

Only thing is when I left that site, I got bombarded by all sorts of pop-ups that never fully displayed but fortunately disappeared nonetheless.

It does not matter if they are unlocked or not, the board has no multiplier adjustments on it, unfortunatly.
As far as the pop-ups, I am glad I had my pop-up filter on, I saw it blinking in the tray.

Most of my posts are in OS with a good deal in Net (although I read more there than post). OT is a distraction (sometimes good, sometimes not), and DC is just a great place to be

I just want to add info for those trying to use the Tiger MP. I have 2 Tiger MPs that started working fine with all four slots filled with Crucial Registered DDRs. After a few months, both started killing memory modules - one at a time. The other Tiger MPs I have only have 2 slots filled with the same type of memory. They haven't killed any memory yet (knock on wood)

Maybe this board kills memory modules if you have more than 2 installed - not sure. I thought that people started complaining problem having more than 2 slots occupied from the time this board first released.

Also, on my setups, these Crucial memory modules seems very warm but not too hot to touch.
