If the R9 290 and R9 290X come out at competitive price point I don't think he would have anything negative to say about it. He agrees at the current price point the R9 280X is a better buy vs. the GTX 770. Give him a break.

The thread title was in two parts, new information about the card and possible price. So the thread wasn`t based on only that thread.

I put question mark behind the end of the thread too just to make it an open question.

Hell right now the price seems to be bouncing from 549-699; most are saying that it will be 699.

I think AMD playing interesting game to keep Nvidia guessing where its going to land in at.....I'm thinkin 599 possibly; if it hit 549......that would be awesome; but I doubt it will.

You were saying a couple of days ago that anything over 399$ is too much for a 290X - even for a card trading blows with Titan. I think you're just cheap, no offense or anything. There's nothing wrong with seeking a bargain but clearly your expectations are out of line with the real world.

Meanwhile back here on planet earth, a card that trades blows with Titan and priced well below the GTX 780 would be very welcome. Maybe not to you, who wants to pay 399$ (for a card trading with Titan), but here on planet earth it would be welcome IMHO.

Blackened is right... you said if I recall correctly, " call me when its $399" or something like that. The days of top of the range video cards being less than $450 are most likely gone. If you want to wait that long for it to be $399 go ahead but thats an unreasonable expectation for their Top tier card.

My guess is around $500 for non X and $650 for X version of the 290.

What I don't understand is why it's bad to be biased.I mean,blind fanboyism and denying facts is indeed bad,but having a certain preference for a brand and defending it within reasonable bounds is certainly nothing bad.I mean,aren't we all biased one way or the other?
I for one am biased towards AMD in both the CPU and GPU space.But what can I say when Intel's CPUs are a gazillion times better?I can't bash them and I can't call AMD CPUs better.I'd be an idiot.I also used to prefer NVidia GPUs previously,but at one point I had enough of my PC being messed up because of their drivers (I'm talking about the era before the GTX series,9xxx and before) and they didn't really perform better.So I switched to ATi/AMD and have been prefering them since then.Happily for me,AMD now seems to have the better GPU,that is unless something about what we know is way wrong.If they don't,I would go for the 780.
But seriously guys,what's with all the hate and bashing and flaming around here?Apart from some obvious exceptions,most of the users here are slightly biased or almost neutral (Can't be completely neutral in my opinion).But some just take disagreeing too seriously...

The most interesting thing was the supposedly high density memory bus, with 512-bit taking up less space than 384-bit, which would be quite big if it's true, and could mean higher bandwidth on future cards without being too expensive from a die space POV.
Although it indicates that they can't get such high memory clocks with it since the clock speed for the RAM is lower.

You dont notice how often Pro nvidia users, post AMD related news, and put negative spins on them? It happends alot.

I dont recall myself makeing a thread related to nvidia news, with a negative spin on something.

That is the differnce.

The thing is that reaks of marketing, something keys keep accuseing everyone of doing, for AMD.
Yet I dont recall seeing that happend in recent times, it's nvidia users love to post negative spin on amd news on this forum.
