Link to TweakTown forums.

Link to backup blog post.

So the NDA is expired, and many more sites have their reviews up:

AnandTech. (Jarred & Anand's mobile Llano review.)
AnandTech. (Anand's desktop Llano preview.)
Tom's Hardware.
Legit Reviews.
Engadget.

I think the most articulate and succinct description of Llano was made by Tom's:

To be frank, most folks aren’t going to be able to distinguish between a Sandy Bridge-based Core processor or a Llano-based A-series chip when it comes to Web browsing or composing a document in Word. Then again, if you fire up a game, the A-series APU surges past Intel’s HD Graphics implementation. Play that same title on a mobile system using battery power and you’re treated to another surprise: improved performance is complemented by longer battery life.

That's an unusual thing to put on the package: "diffused in germany". Since I work in the semiconductor industry, I know what they mean. But it seems like an odd way to phrase it.

As far as the benchmarks, they are interesting. Thanks for the post.

I'm very interested in seeing how these perform when combined with a 6670 for crossfire, 3dmark06 score is a bit better than my Phenom II X4 940 with 4670.

The 06 score beats my M11x. Impressive. I think I might be picking up a laptop Llano w/6770M or 6750M.

Not bad. I wish we could get some hybrid xfire benchmarks. The ability to die in a discrete card makes this an absolute win, especially for laptops. I'm hoping hybrid crossfire works with their higher-end mobile discrete solutions. That'd be awesome.

need in notebooks nao

As long as battery life is acceptable, I agree.

For me, "acceptable" means being able to last a flight, AKA 4-6 hours of real-world non-gaming usage. Something like the 6-9 hours of some Zacate netbooks is really good too. ^_^

The hope is for a thin/light notebook with good battery life at a low price.

14th is supposedly mobile only. the leaked roadmaps say the 24th for everything, though i've read july 1st or 3rd for desktop also.

Do you hear that? That's the sound of Sandy Bridge/Nvidia laptop price drops everywhere.

Edit: What were the stock clocks?

Every AMD CPU says that.

That's one sexy laptop/HTPC chip. Can't wait to see what 32nm K10.5 cores have to offer. Is Bus Alive Chip Off functioning as it should?; hybrid crossfire with this thing should offer up some nice power/performance characteristics.

Man, the once questionable ATi acquisition just gets better and better as time goes by...

It's all about the import/export laws and how/when a product is defined as being "the product" for taxation purposes.

AMD structured their packaging facilities and product definitions so they could escape from as much VAT (the "value-added" part) as possible when they export the portions of the eventual CPU from Germany and out of Europe.

AMD doesn't make CPU's in Germany, the CPU is made in Malaysia. They want/need to claim as much of the product's value as possible was added to the CPU outside the euro-zone.

If you are going to pay/incur a pro-rated VAT based on the value-added to the CPU for the portion of its manufacturing that was done in the Euro-zone then your lawyers are going to insist on structuring the value-add production chain to ensure that you are claiming as little value was added as possible while the chips were in Germany.

What value does a CPU have if it has no packaging and is just an uncut wafer? It's rather close to zero.

From what I'm seeing, a new HP Pavilion with a 6750M and Quad Core APU (not sure on the model) w/400SP costs around $600. Maybe a little more. THAT would be a budget gaming laptop.

Looks like my i3 and Geforce 310M based 14" Vaio is going to get the boot. Llano is one hell of an overclocker too, I didn't expect 870 MHz on the GPU . I was thinking OCing on the graphics side of things was going to be more controlled, but damn!
