Question More Ripple in PSU

Hello,

Suppose my computer PSU is 800W and the maximum total consumption is 150W.
Is it true we have more ripple in output when we use less than 20% or 30% of PSU? and it can be harmful to our devices such as HDD, SDD, MD, and ....

Based on PSU reviews I've seen on Anandtech and elsewhere, there is always less ripple at lower output. Even at 100% output, a decent PSU will control ripple to within a few % of the ATX spec for each rail. At worst, a bit of ripple may cause instability for a heavy, borderline stable, overclock.

The only time a PSU has damaged my components was during the capacitor plague (late 90s to mid 00's) when a capacitor blew in my PSU and took anything connected to the 12v rail with it.

All of my PSU purchases were informed by Anandtech reviews. Currently a Seasonic Prime Titanium, recommended by this Anandtech review. My previous PSU was by PC Power and Cooling, recommended by this ancient Anandtech review. The PC Power and Cooling PSU I got immediately after the PSU failure I mentioned in my prior posts. Lesson learned: Don't buy super cheap PSUs.

^ This. Don't buy super cheap PSU unless you know where to discriminate how the low cost was achieved and whether that matters in your application. I'd still want a review with plenty of testing, am thinking of major brand PSU that only become low cost through rebates or gray market like Amazon warehouse scuffed box or legitimately refurbished items.

A decent quality PSU does not need to be oversized to 800W to handle a 150W load. I like some margin, and all else equal it does reduce ripple to overshoot capacity, but any properly designed PSU will limit ripple enough to not risk damage, or shut itself off.

For a 150W load, I'd rather have a higher tier 500W PSU than a so-so 800W PSU that cost the same.

Once upon a time, jonnyguru.com was the ultimate PSU site...sadly, it's gone now.

Ripple shouldn't be an issue with any "quality" PSU, especially at lower wattages.

OP, post your exact PSU manufacturer and model. Maybe we can find a good, honest review of it.

Why don't you share your psu model?
If your psu is a decent model from a reputable brand, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. You can look up crossloading tests in reviews.
