Can you give me a link to that?

200,000 people estimated. Thats sick.

Sepultura and Iron Maiden played to that many in Rio. Rio always puts that many bodies in a concert. Don't get too giddy about the numbers.

Um, not according to HDI. According to that we are ranked #8 behind...

Haha! I think over here Tiesto to Chicago Bears ratio is something like 20:1 or along those lines

If we're talking numbers only, it all hinges on the popularity of electronic music.
I'd venture to guess that 80%+ of the people in US and Canada recognize the Bears. That gives a figure of what, 250 million or so?

How many people listen to electronica worldwide, and of those how many recognize Tiesto? (I barely know him, and I'm a fan of electronic music)

I'd venture a guess that the numbers are similar, with Tiesto's being mostly teenagers-30y.o, and the Bears running the age gamut.

Before this thread, I had never heard of DJ Tiesto.

Proof that he is awesome (particularly in the form of :camera:'s) has changed my life. Maybe some day I'll listen to his music. Or better yet, see him live. Then I will have my license plate personalized TIESTO1. That would be so cool. Lemme grab my Elmo backpack, pacifier and bottle of water and I'll catch up with you kids later.

Thanks, OP.

LA Lakers: No
Kobe Bryant: No

Michael Jordan: Yes
Tiger Woods: Yes
NY Yankees: Yes

Lakers and Kobe are quite known in the world. Do you know how many Chinese people there are in the world? Why is it that the fobs who come over play bball all day long? Yeah. That's it. There's a reason why 500 million people watched the first Shaq vs. Yao matchup back in 2003. And how many people watched the Superbowl? Out of those 100 million how many of those are in America? Like 95%? Hahahahaha.

If most of the US can't even place Iraq on a map what makes you think they know the Bears? It's not a large crowd I can bet you. I'd say maybe 50% can name the Bears... maybe even fewer.

perhaps those here recognize tiesto, however worldwide the bears are more well known.

ATOT sample != joe Q public sample

people here are confused. Tiesto is better at making music than the Bears are at playing football. That doesn't necessarily transcend into notoriety though.

Tiesto may pwn at music, but he sucks ass in a contest o' fame. you tiesto fanbois should be proud of this, as you can say "I knew of him before you did" when someone says they just found out about him.

Tiesto is sh!t in a popularity contest. If you can't deal with that, then it's your job to get the word out about your fave DJ, fanboi

I guess I've heard of DJ Tiesto before and a little of his music, but I couldn't point him out in a picture.

Then again, I don't like his music, I think it's boring, as I do with all trance/techno/electronica/whatever else it's called. Not my style. I know this style of music is popular in Europe and the rest of the world, but it just doesn't appeal to me. I was born in germany, of german descent, and I've lived there recently, and even then I couldn't get into that culture.

I guess I'm probably your typical american, I dislike watching soccer with a passion (playing it with friends when I lived in germany was fun), and I love playing and watching (american) football. One thing that bothers me, is that whenever topics like this show up, you have the wetworks of non-american people show up and start criticizing us for having different tastes than the rest of the world. At least this topic has blown up into that, but on other sites it would've done that in a heartbeat.

BTW, Chicago Bears is a stupid poll choice. I can't imagine many people outside of the US know the Chicago Bears... a better choice would be the Dallas Cowboys (Go Cowboys!) or the New England Patriots.

I would disagree, but not because I'm a narrowminded college student like what is posted above.

DJ Tiesto can go to just about every corner of the earth and sell out for his concerts, I don't think the same could be said for the Yankees, baseball is predominantly an American past time, and I hate to say it but aside from the USA, Canada and parts of Asia, it wouldn't sell out for sure.

DJ Tiesto tickets were going in the range of 300 for single tickets for his concert here two weeks ago.

Tiger Woods, maybe, but music is alot more universal than golf appeal.

And Michael Jordan, maybe.

A better question is, amongst people in the world who actually matter, which is more popular. Bears by a landslide.

And the world revolves around the American universe.

Get over yourselves for a second, there is a reason the rest of the world despises you.

For the last 75 years you could justify that arrogant swagger of yours, but the last 10 years you've spent clinging onto a fading glory.

The world is not america-centric. Baseball is not the worlds most popular sport, and football is just the pansies form of Rugby.

DJ who??

I like a wide range of music, yet have NEVER heard of this Teisto guy.

What does one have to do with the other anyway? Is this guy from Chicago or something?

This thread is proof that some ravers do too much drugs.

Football is going to be a little more well known as a whole worldwide than DJ music like trance.

Also a nice vid:

Tiesto's Adagio for Strings, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5xjIpsHVYQ

Doesn't anyone play real instruments anymore?

Q: What do you play?
A: Oh, I play the drum machine.
Q: Does that require a lot of practice?
A: No, I just turn it on and hit a key to change the sound and turn the tempo up or down.

BTW-The Bears are going to lose this Sunday.

If you think it's easy you are a tard. A musical instrument is not restricted to any one thing.

The difference between me and the states, when someone else doesn't like me, I don't throw a tantrum and conquer them.
