I think its funny these wannabe 'europeans/japanese/korean/etc' living in the US thinks rather niche market stuff is mainstream outside. We deal with this a lot when silly american fanboys of Japanese stuff try to tell my wife how it really is in Japan when they have only been there for a few days. In any country you can find anything...however; what's common or normalplace are entirely different.
DJ Tiesto and the Bears are both popular. However, neither are known in any majority worldwide. All you have to do is factor in the homeless/foodless masses and it all becomes a wash.
Not all adults listen to trance outside the US, I wouldn't even say a large portion in any countries demographic. In some nations its more popular, but definitely not so mainstream.
