Morrowind or Neverwinter Nights

Help me make a decision, I've heard conflicting arguments for both.

It may just be me, the story of Morrowind seems cool - but actual combat was REALLY boring to start.. So boring that once I died once I decided Light Saber battles in JK2 are way more fun.

I have played both enough to form an opinion and I like NWN alot better than Morrowind.

Morrowind just seems to drag to much and there is nothing that comes to mind that is really "great" about Morrowind. It did manage to keep me playing for a couple weeks but after that I havent played since. Its pace is too slow, the combat sucks, the performance is horrible on almost any system unless you can hang with 20-25 frames on your top of the line system.

Neverwintet Nights is alot better, though it does have its downfalls aswell. The main downfall being that its still kinda buggy, there are a couple spots where Ive experienced broken quests. I have also experinced a couple crashes. Another problem is the online portion still kinda sucks...there arent really any big modules out yet....that will come in time though. And you kinda need to know some people if ya wanna play online..jumping in a server with just anybody is far from entertaining. Im loving the single player quest though..it has a good story, good graphics and Im almost done with it and havent been bored yet. The charactor creation rocks and so does the story.

My vote is for NWN......by far.

Yep, Morrowind can't even come close to Neverwinter Nights...a vastly superior game.

Someone in the gamespy forums wrote this (among other things)

"I would have to go with 'The worst disapointment this year'.

As the review states, the graphics are out-dated, the story line of the single player mode is very shallow and non-grabing, and, well, it just doesnt grab me at all! (It is amazing how the review lists a lot of bab points like the above, bad path finding, etc, but still gives of quotes like 'its the must play of the year', duh)."

Which one do you speak of? I'm guessing Morrowind

NeverWinter Nights... Great Single player game for D&D geeks with absolutely NO friends...
NeverWinter Nights...Horrible multiplayer game, not meant for those with a regular sex life of any kind.

WarCraft3... Yes I know it's a totally different game, but it certainly keeps me from wishing I was a D&D herb, to enjoy their 'Holy Game'....

looks like someone isn't very secure with themselves.

BTW, I have never touched D&D in my life...i know nothing about the rules or anything but I could learn neverwinter nights. I still don't understand it all but it's very playable.

war3 sucks up more of my time overall though

I didnt care much for the NWN single player experience much. WAY to inflexible and limited for my tastes and quite linear in it's gameplay.
I found Baldurs Gate to be a MUCH better game for it's single player experience, and GB2 + the ToB expansion pack blow NWN away for the depth of the single player experience.
If you don't mind a fairly linear and inflexible experience though NWN is otherwise quite a nice single player game.

As for the multi-player experience it's got an impressive engine with a very wide range of capabilities. For someone that could find a good DM that was willing to put the time forth to design a solid campaign I'm sure it could be extremely enjoyable though.

If I wanted a multiplayer experience though I'd go and play REAL pen & paper 3e D&D though.


As for Morrowind, the combat isnt the best, the story line is merely average... but the sheer versatility of options and huge world has kept me playing and enjoying it quite a lot.

Same here. I don't understand most of the nuances and details but I think NWN is awesome. As was BG2 and IWD. Bioware just happens to make amazing RPG games, D&D or not.
