Now's the chance to replace Mitch's leadership and Diane's committee on the Senate JC.

I heard one of the reasons Diane wouldn't leave was Republicans threatened to block a replacement on the SJC.

Oh I got it alright, but who is rocking spindles today?
<raises hand> For dead storage, spinning rust can't be beat. When an HDD dies, it's like the death scene in Hamlet, plenty of time to take action. When solid state dies, it's like being disappeared in Argentina; it's just not there anymore.

The bad sector analogy is good for Mitch.

Feinstein is like a cassette tape that got sucked into the deck.

God damnit, yes I have a few spindles too for mass storage… Way to kill a joke man.

edit: was contemplating tape or disc at one point but its easier and less hassle to just plug in a new drive and go again. No fuss.

Seems like a good trade. One OAF dem and one OAF repub for one each of a younger appointee of the same respective party. No change in the balance of power.

Although I do wonder how the GOP's obvious intent to seize absolute power absolutely is going to deal with that. I mean, yes in all fairness it's a workable idea on the face of things but the GOP will naturally try to exploit that principle of fairness into something akin to what's "fair" for them must not be "fair" for everyone else. It's a feature of that party and not at all a quirk, especially after Trump got ahold of it. His style of play is dirty beyond the pale where he won't play if he can't control the outcome in his favor and the party he rules over is more than happy to oblige him.

Kinda like a PC when it hits a bad sector on the disk that contains a critical file, everything stops while it tries and tries to read the sector...

... Eventually the sector will become complete unreadable and there will be a BSOD...
Or vectored into a long no-op.

Fun fact-next time someone points out the evils of sex, drugs and rock and roll point out that Mick Jagger is one year younger than McConnell.

It is interesting how some old rock stars age remarkably well, while others don't.

Politicians, on the other hand, mostly seem to age quite badly, as high-earning professions go (journalists don't seem much better). A combination of stress, physical inactivity, and the bodily manifestation of a corrupted soul, I guess.

Maybe not as true as in the past, lots of cocktail parties.

What a horrible person. You have some real issues. I seriously feel bad for you having to live with your mental anguish every day.

I hope you get some well needed help.
He's a horrible person? You voted for a guy who bragged about killing someone on the streets of 5th Ave and bragged about committing sexual assault.

You have supported that horrific evil creature named Mitch his whole career I bet. That man is responsible for so much evil in this country that has cause millions of people pain over decades. Insane amounts of evil.

You are just as horrible, as you support his party and his agenda.

Hating evil people is not a mental disorder, history is littered with your types, I'm only guilty of paying attention.

The only help I need is to separate the evil beings of you and your party from the sane and decent parts of this country.

The moment I say we need term limits "someone smart" will say no we don't.

We need term limits. Here's your chance, smart person.

I have no problem at all watching Mitchikovsky turn into the Blithering Imbecile I always thought he was.

I've already said many times that we need term limits. I've also said I do my own version by never voting for anyone who has already been elected twice.

I’m willing to have this debate.

I don’t think we need term limits. Term limits is a good way to erode institutional knowledge and gridlock congress even more. Term limits would create an even longer election cycle and would allow for more corruption and big moneyed interests to be prioritized even more.

What we need is campaign finance reform, more house representatives and the filibuster to be removed.

Filibuster gone or changed to how people think as in the person speaks the entire time. I agree with @fskimospy congress needs a big huge pay increase that’s tied to inflation and that is their only income. Period no other income, no speaking tours, no paid motivational speaking. None. Their investments should be handled by a legit licensed real investment company in a blind trust manner as in they have no control or idea what money is invested where. Shit I’d even give them a big allowance to select an investment firm.

I can understand that viewpoint. If we're aiming for maximum effectiveness, efficiency even, we could abolish the constitution and install kings and queens. We could also do away with election cycles, and just let the king or queen appoint everyone. If the king or queen is doing this thing as a lifetime thing, which most likely they are, they could be a wealth of knowledge too.

I sort of like how West Virginia does term limits for the governor. You can't run and be the governor three consecutive times, yet some people have been the governor 3 times having sat out an election cycle. This might be done elsewhere, too, but I do not know.

This country was founded, predominately, by young-ish people. If not outright by young people. We have gone away from that to where politicians have made a career out of being politicians. I think it goes against the spirit of America.

I think it's more important to instill some youthfulness into the system which hopefully brings along new perspectives and way of doing things than to ensure the cogs and gears of the system remain well-oiled.

I'm not debating and wasn't here for one, at the end of the day anything I have to say about it ultimately doesn't matter.

Yesssssss. Blind trust or an S&P index fund only.

People think entirely the wrong way about legislative salaries. We should make them very large because in the scope of federal spending they are barely a rounding error but in the scope of corruption they can cause it’s huge. Pay them all a million a year, because when you don’t they find other ways to steal.

Fuck if they choose the index fund I’m fine with them keeping the allowance for a financial person.

Instead of term limits, why can't we have an age limit?

And by age limits, I mean a limit that is so ridiculously high that no one should disagree is beyond the point of "mental ripeness" or "being in touch with modern times", like 80 years old? Whether that means you must be younger than 80 when elected or you must be younger than 80 when you complete serving the term is up for debate.
