• Reports say that he had an automatic weapon and unloaded up to 100's of rounds into a packed mosque during prayers.

I know the city well and, although there is a known white supremacist element within the community, it isn't something I would expect to happen in New Zealand.

Updated 10PM NZT:

• A gunman walked into a mosque on Deans Ave, Christchurch carrying a semi-automatic weapon and opened fire. He live streamed the attack.
• A second shooting occurred at a mosque in Linwood
• At least 49 people were dead as of 9pm - 41 at the Central Mosque, 7 at Linwood Mosque, 1 in Christchurch Hospital.
• 48 people are in hospital with gunshots wounds as of 9pm, including young children. Other injured went to medical centres.
• Christchurch Hospital had 12 operating theatres in use on Friday night. Some of the injured require multiple surgeries.
• Families have shown up at the hospital and at the Deans Ave cordon seeking news of families members
• An Australian-born shooter was not on any police or security watch-list.
• The gunman identified himself as Australian-born Brenton Tarrant.
• One person has been arrested and charged with murder. That person is thought to have been arrested on Bealey Ave in a car which had explosives and guns inside.
• Three others - two men and woman - are in custody, but police are unsure if they are connected.
• Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said the shooting was a terrorist attack.
• This is the deadliest mass shooting on record in New Zealand

The full video is just sickening. Just kept going back in and shooting point blank into the huddle masses. Then drove down the street and started shooting random people as he passed out his windows.

I was watching a live news stream of the events (not the shooters video) on YouTube and the comments were frightening. Fucking hell. An eye for an eye and we all go blind. Something like this. Close to home in New Zealand. Boggles my mind.

Yep, you can't help where you were born or who to but a hell of a lot of people place a great deal of value in it. The irony of this guy railing against Muslim imperialism and invasion to Western countries is staggering given he is allegedly a white Australian. What does he think that Colonialism was?
