The world was going crazy before Trump. Trump is far more of a symptom than a cause here.

Racism existed before Trump, and will be here after.
Nationalism existed before Trump, and will be here after.
Right-wing extremists existed before Trump, and will be here after.

Trump did not develop his ideology in isolation.

Yes-and-no. He is both a symptom/manifestation of it and also a vector for further transmitting and magnifying it.

Wow you just justified Trump's obvious excusing of racism and hate. Anyone watching the footage heard the tiki marchers chant "Jews will not replace us" and "blood and soil". They were not chanting "save our monuments" My dumbass knew this from watching the coverage. POTUS has access to the best intelligence in the world and you are claiming he didn't know???

Yes... POTUS has the best Sean Hannity has to offer.
I can't believe you just called it the best in the world.

I saw the Fox coverage of Charlottesville. Your description of the event did not exist on that channel.

Maybe New Zealand needs to ban white people from entering the country until they can figure out what's going on.

Just a disclaimer: that is sarcasm.

Trump didn't create racism and religious intolerance, obviously, but he fanned those flames and then rode the updraft into the Office of the President. He spread the lie of birtherism, knowing it was a lie. He spread the lie of Muslims in NYC or NJ cheering on 9/11, knowing it was a lie. He emboldened racism and bigotry and white supremacy, and gave them a safe space in the White House.
And now that the inevitable consequences of that have occurred - again - his water carriers are here to defend him - again.

I didn't invent guns either. But if I pick one up and blow someone away..

That does not excuse his followup days later.

I remember the fake stories of Muslims on rooftops celebrating 9-11 and the twin towers coming down. The story was proven to be bullshit but righties insisted on spreading it. Now I can point to a number of American websites where the members are currently celebrating this attack. No bullshit story but this time the roles are reversed with conservatives openly celebrating the deaths of those they've been taught to hate.

This is some sick shit from some sick motherfuckers in this country.

You are correct, sir. Crazy people in the world.

I never understood how people could commit suicide either.

Fact is, you do not know the life of pain they lived. It leads to many horrific reactions.

I understand suicide very well. It's a supreme act of self-control. I can relate to people who want to give God, or fate, or whatever, the middle-finger.

I can't relate at all to people who put such emphasis on such trivial things as race.

Sorry, I did go back a few posts but still misread it. Edited post.

Man, you confuse me. You come in hard and fast, but, admit when you get something wrong. I appreciate that, even if we disagree a lot.

Homer has become much the same, where he is at least willing to engage and explain himself.

Again, that does not disagree with what I have said. What I am pushing back against is Trump being seen as the majority of the issue here, when clearly he should not be. We have larger underlying problems not only here in the US, but, around the world. I do not see any real focus on those issues, but instead the focus is on the symbols.

So while removing symbols needs to happen, I worry that people will think that once they are gone all is solved. Much like electing Obama made people complacent to many issues.

'Trump is a symbol of renewed white identity and common purpose': New Zealand gunman's sick manifesto reveals he supported the president and wanted to spark 'a civil war in the U.S.' by massacring dozens"

Lol Trump

I think he revealed that he didn't support Trump and closely aligned with China. I'm shocked.. just shocked I tell you that Trump is being blamed for the mass shooting in another country. The guy was a crazy nut job and was all over the map. I'm sure Maxine Waters will put "Caused New Zealand Mosque mass shooting" as another bullet point in her articles of impeachment resolution, and I bet AOC is ready to claim Wells Fargo is somehow responsible as well.

So what? You're just making excuses for Trump, something Michael Cohen did for 10 years.

"I say in my talks it takes two things to make it happen again, a new Hitler and social conditions like in the thirties. But that's not true. It takes three things: the Hitler, the conditions... and the people to follow the Hitler." -- Ira Levin

Why didn't you put Rashida Tlaib or Ilhan Omar? They don't like Jews and support terrorists that don't like Jews.

You must have missed the part where the shooter claimed Trump as inspiration.

There's a vast difference between disliking a behavior and hating an entire race , Sparky.

And you and Trump support terrorists that murder Muslims while at prayer in their mosques.
I guess that makes you better, right?

You didn't read carefully. He doesn't support Trump as a political leader. He supports Trump has an inspiration for white supremacists.

Nobody, I repeat NOBODY blames Trump for this individual act of terrorism but they do blame him for fanning the flames of hate and racism resulting in the rise of these kinds of attacks.

Crazy story and I think this might be the turning point for social media, what direction it ends up I dunno. He said subscribe to pewdiepie in it, I bet there will be a push to get his channel banned (not deservedly).

Hey, do you have that link to the person you claimed started birtherism?

There is not many things we can do about the underling issues, because most of the real issues are ones of identity and perspective. These people believe that they are being prosecuted, that something bad is happening, but it is mostly all just conspiracy. How do you fight that? You attack the things that are telling them that.

Remember that it is the symptoms that mostly kill. Most of the time you can't really treat the disease but must treat the symptoms and hope that the disease runs it's course and goes away.

There’s a ton of conspiracy for sure but the underlying feeling of persecution is understandable. It’s become culturally acceptable to demonize people based on skin color. Happens every day in politics, the media, here on this forum... There’s not a solution, it’s just the way society is in 2019. Social media and the internet exacerbates it and makes it a global phenomenom.

I’m not defending this POS at all and hope he rots in prison for the rest of his life.

I very much disagree that there is nothing we can do about the underlying issues. Those issues historically had been getting better. That means there is something that happened during those times.

You fight back against conspiracy through discussion and reason. You will not get a win every time, but the long run you will. Look at the flat earth guys that spend a ton of money testing flat earth to be proved wrong.
