MOST ADDICTIVE VIDEO GAME?

Addictive in a good way? Quakeworld. I played it almost daily, with some breaks of a month or two at a few points, for about 10 years now. I am currently in a break mostly due to the fact that the online DM/CA community is dead and the only time I play it is during LAN parties with friends.

Addictive in a bad way? Everquest. Never doing THAT again. It was seriously fun for the first year of release, and then it was all downhill from there. But somehow I couldn't stop playing it. Interfered too much with stuff, like life.

Me too. I wasted days and days on that game.

It was bad b/c it was always "Just one more turn..." That makes me want to reinstall and play a "little" this weekend. CivIII just wasn't as good.

I liked Alpha Centauri more, just for the custom units.

Always played on huge map of Planet with mid-hard difficulty.

Once my researchers discovered the gravship chassis it was all over for everyone. I could have my production so high I could crank 20 or so fully equipped "clean" (so I didn't need to support them) gravship deathmobiles out in 2-3 turns, then in the next 2-3 turns I could conquer every remaining faction.

I mean, it'd be about an ever struggle until I got that unit than if you watch the territory playback, the color that was me would just explode over the planet. God, I loved doing that.

A couple times I played just so I could start nuclear wars. I'd stockpile enough of them that I'd be guarunteed to at least kill everyone else, and sometimes I'd survive it. Not much of a planet left after one, though, it was kinda educational.

Dude, I still play that game. I'm trying to beat it using the Gaians on transcend difficulty.....not an easy task! I've had to restart many times now but refuse to give up, lol!

I have been addicted to so many games that I just can't pick one. The first PC game I was hooked on was Math Blaster for c64 and then some toothbrushing game I can't remember the name of. I guess my first "online" game addiction was L.O.R.D. back when it was kewl to have leet access to warez on BBS systems. And too many more to name after that.....

Fallout 2 took up a good two weeks or so of my life. I didn't get the best ending so I'll probably pick it up again in a year or so.

The Civ series and AC were quite addicting for me.

KotOR kept me going for a while and I'll probably pick it up again soon.

But the most addicting game that I can remember playing was Sim City 2000. I spent months playing that, downloading new building sets, and creating new cities. I played SC3000 for a while too but not nearly as much as SC2000.

I used to play Mega Man on my NES non-stop. I just picked up the 'Anniversary Edition' for Xbox that has the first 8 games. Late nights this week, I tell ya.
Knights of the Old Republic kept me up because it was so easy to get involved in that game to the point where time just ceased to exist. I remember playing it once at like 7:00PM and when I shut it off, it was almost 8:00AM and I had no idea I'd been playing that long.

Word... SC for me.. that was THE college game with my roommates.. we talk about strategies on the bus and even in class.. college was just an afterthought, and only 7 years ago.. man!
