Sort of crazy that people hate a phone, but it seems to be born out by anecdotal posts and comments.

I too hate Apple and how locked down everything is. iTunes, iPhone, their way or the highway.

That said, having jumped into the smartphone market with my Android phone I plan on switching to the iPhone next time I upgrade unless there have been major steps forward to kill fragmentation and improve stability of Android.

the OS prior to OSX was honestly the worst thing ive ever had to use. i would willingly use WinME over it. OSX made it slightly better but it still sucked in comparison to win 2K onward. Having to use a mac in HS (was free) and then again in college (had them in labs) did most of the damage for me. they were inferior in every way to a Win based system at the time and cost 3x as much also using an OS used by 1% of the population was just stupid.

the ipod interface is crap. sorry the wheel sucks
its file format support and SNR sucks

the iphone interface is just a giant app list, and it doesn't support widgets, which is not as AMAZING as people say it is

all white electronics ever made are ulgy

they also design products for FORM over Function which is 100% backwards

also specifically about the iphone, until 2 months ago it only existed on the worst carrier in the US

I've used iTunes for several years before even owning an iPod. iTunes is superior to every other media player ever made. Period. It is a music organization application, nothing else could match in any category whatsoever.

I bought an iPod because of how good iTunes was actually, before then, I used cheap Mp3 players like the iRivers.

The iPod is definitely not a great interface though. Simple, but can be frustrating with the wheel. Its worth is derived from syncing with the All-mighty iTunes.

File format and SNR? I'm sorry, I'm pretty sure no one cares. We use Mp3 in this side of 99.99% percentile of the non-nerd universe, and these things all pretty much sound fine to most audio outputs.

I don't hate apple, I just like Android's ability to be customized better. Widgets are key, as is Android's notifications system. iOS sucks in that respect. App lists should also be hidden away, imo.

file folder structure is the best form or organization

and yes SNR and format support matter. your listing to compressed music. having a shitty SNR just makes it worse.

It's the peer pressure, since apparently everyone has an Apple product, the non-existent pressure to be cool has caused strife among the non-adopters. They thus resent Apple for creating discord among the friends they thought they had because of the commonality they feel by owning a branded electronics device.

Meanwhile, no one else with real lives actually care. Simple consumer psychology.

Isn't this the same source of a survey that came out last week? The "why would anyone ever want a android phone" survey that was pulled without listing the results?

Very biased, trying to portray Android users as haters while portraying iphone users as open minded people who would switch to Android if it was better, implying that the iphone is the better solution by default.

So to be considered an open minded individual, I would have to limit my choice from 4 major down to 2 (most expensive & restrictive) carriers who offer the iphone, buy it and instantly I morph from a hater into a open minded lover?

Of course I won't buy an iPhone because I hate Apple. But that hatred has a base around real reasons. I hate that Apple are patent Nazi's and even try to sue companies who's ideas they themselves stole. I hate that Apple locks down everything. I hate that Apple is part of the reason ebook pricing is shitty. I hate apple for their trickery.... so yes I would have to agree with that comment.

However, it isn't on baseless things and just a hatred for no reason.

I don't hate Apple so much as I recognize they're not for me. I don't want to be a part of Apple's ecosystem. I strongly dislike OS X and all other Apple software. iTunes and QuickTime are like viruses. I don't like their continued reliance on "syncing," which seems outmoded in this era of putting everything in the cloud (at least emails, contacts, and calendars). And I do believe you can do this with the iPhone, it's just not the standard method AFAIK.

Beyond that, I use Android because I'm used to it. I like how it works. I felt lost trying to do stuff on my dad's iPhone when I tinkered with it a few weeks ago because it didn't have back or menu buttons. I could get used to it, sure, but I don't see it as really an upgrade, just a sidegrade with more disadvantages than advantages.

If I wanted/needed/could afford a tablet, I'd get an iPad though. They're really nice. But I'll never get an iPhone.

hate on osx is almost unwarranted. i don't really get it. for most of your needs like neffing, surfing, chatting, word processing, you can already get done on osx. hell even coding should be fine. i can also photo edit with lightroom, and work on adobe cs5 if i need. torrenting, newsgrouping is all very possible. so is playing poker (which is obviously a nonissue no win the US ) but seriously... how much more would I need to do on my MacBook Pro if I have a power desktop PC already?

I don't think people understand that advertising is designed to make them money, even if they tell you to your face that you're a stupid ugly bonobo if you don't own XYZ.

Well, they all kind of do. Perhaps you just don't know it. I know the Old Spice commercials do that (you're not man enough), the car commercials (you're not sophisticated enough), all the clothing brands, etc etc.
