???

Maybe the Clone Window tab will help?

I'm a Firefox fan mainly because of the Add-ons, I guess. (If you couldn't tell by now. )
I've got about 25 of them installed.

So you use IE?

I use equal measures of Firefox and Chrome. It's possible to use a piece of software and still be aware of it's flaws.

You can drag tabs out to a new window with 3.5 Beta 4. The RC is supposed to come out sometime soon.

FYI: This isn't a Firefox exclusive behavior.
Opera auto-sorts alphabetically by default.

hey that's new to me, and might be good, Howard!

Or the OP could, obviously, simply select Bookmarks / Organize Bookmarks & "Sort by Name". Done. Takes about 2 or 3 seconds.

That has no effect on bookmarks toolbar.

maybe not for you.

For me, that instantly alphabetizes my bookmarks in FF.

I have no idea why that doesn't also work for you. Works real fast & easy for me.

another annoying thing is if you just open a window or a new tab, you have a wait a sec before you can open a new tab via rightclick

Agreed on startup time, but Firefox does not update any more often than IE does (usually once per month).

There was a period 3.0.2 - 3.0.4 where there was 3 updates in under a month, and again around 3.0.7, nothing I get bothered about though. Add-on updates though, given how many you can install means you can be updating/restarting quite frequently.

Bookmarks: add a new bookmark, then close FF by clicking the "X" in the upper right corner.
On restart, the new bookmark has disappeared, and FF is now using a "backup" of the bookmarks file.
The same behavior occurs if FF hangs or crashes: new or recently added bookmarks have disappeared upon restart.
To me, this bookmarks behavior is just stupid!
However, if you instead use File/Exit (on the upper left corner), you retain the recently added bookmarks, upon restart.

There's an extension that does this. Firefox 3.5 will have this built-in (coming out in a few weeks).
