I actually witnessed the brother of a girl I knew at work blow his brains out on front of the store. I still remember the blood, tons of it and his eyes fluttered back and forth like they didn't know what to do.

I wouldn't call that bizarre, but just shocking. The girl I knew told me he had a lot on his mind. He was also a Marine. I have no idea if he was in Iraq or A-stan.

Bummer for you, I guess.

Psychoanalysis, yeah it's expensive. Maybe someday you'll have a dream and it will all come back to you.

I worked with a psychotherapist once who had a troubled patient not responding to therapy about some trauma they went through. Due to Dr. patient confidentiality rules I can't use the real person's names so we'll just call him patient Gurn and the Dr's name Dr. Potion. Dr. Potion needed a potent potion for patient Gurn but there was no potent potion for patient Gurn nor any other patient for that matter. Everyone just wants a magic pill these days but there rarely is one that works as well as some other therapies.

Anyway patient Gurn as I said had suffered a traumatic event that they couldn't get over. It was affecting his life so much that Dr. Potion decided to try a new therapy that was being discussed in the annals of psychotherapy. So Dr. Potion put patient Gurn into a somnambulistic state and give him a post hypnotic suggestion to forget the traumatic event ever happened. This would clear the patient up so that they could live a normal and productive life.

Now once you give someone that suggestion you also have to follow up to see if it actually worked. As it turns out one of the patient's friends was involved in this traumatic event that the patient was to forget ever happened. So he should have forgotten about his life-long friendship as well. Sounds like a tall order sure unless you realize that the human mind has no trouble forgetting just about anything you suggest it strongly enough to forget. There was even a famous Derren Brown episode where he made some audience members forget parts of his show by subliminal messaging the word 'forget' on the overhead screens during his show. It actually worked with a portion of his audience. I don't remember the exact name of the show but you can find it on YouTube.

Getting back to the story. So we figured we'd test the loss of memory by sending his friend which he shouldn't even recognize after the memory erase suggestion...well let's be more technically correct here this isn't really erasing memories. I mean it's not killing brain cells. It's more like suppressing memories. The memory will still be there just not easily accessible to the patient. Anyway we sent his lifelong friend in to meet him and sure enough patient Gurn didn't even know who he was. Sure he acted like he knew what was going on but he was clueless because we had people ask him about the incident and he recalled nothing about his friend nor the traumatic event that occurred.

The mind does some unusual stuff sometimes.

Christ, I was married to a psychotherapist in the past.

Most of them in my experience go into that type of a field to begin with is because they have some pretty radical personal problems of their own to begin with, from the people I met at the time.

My best friend from high school and I were like brothers.
10 years later, he asked me and his brother to falsely testify that we had each slept multiple times with his wife, so that he could get custody of their 3 year old daughter in their divorce proceedings.
This ,after she caught him in action, in their bed, in their house with one of his old girlfriends after 7 years of marriage.
Needless to say that ended that friendship.

Realized one day after years of denial I was born in the wrong body. Was pretty surreal.

NO ONE IS BORN IN THE WRONG BODY

you were born into a culture that so warped and unaccepting that it has convinced you its your body, not society, that's got the problem.

It's a pretty rough thing to realize. You spend the rest of your life collecting bodies, hoping someday find the right one.

Was driving a small '26 truck, back in '83 IIRC for my boss who owned a 4 restaurant chain. I would go and pick up crabs, oysters, shrimp and deliver them to all 4. The last stop was Vero beach then I headed back home to Daytona. After you get on I-95 there is a 35-40 mile gap with no exits, one night I saw a large flame up ahead, as I got up close it was a VW bus fully engulfed front to back with about a dozen people watching it burn and taking pictures as well. It was clear that it was intentionally set ablaze, IDK if they considered this a "cremation" or maybe burning away evil spirits.

Walking home in San Francisco, Argentina from a night club at about 5:00 AM, something made me look up, hair on the back of my neck raised. Saw a giant black triangle with some orange lights fly right over me. Seemed like it was only 50 ft above at the most. No noise whatsoever and it was massive in size. Seemed like a dream to this day, maybe it was.

Probably a tie between banging a hot chick around noonish and then her hot mom at 8pmish the same day and she knew full well what happened earlier and watching the Saints win the Superbowl.

Many people have seen black flying triangles before. You're not the only one.

Dunno, maybe the day I realized I was God. I made a giant pin, maybe 2.5" diameter saying plainly, "I am God" and wore it to high school for a day. IIRC, I didn't get a single comment or reaction.

Witnessed a young guy commit suicide by jumping off the Coronado bridge, just at the moment when I was driving past him. That was so surreal that it took a while to really soak in and convince myself that yes, I did just see that.
They showed a clip like that on the evening news on ABC last night between 4-5PM. It was a guy jumping off what looked like the prow of a largish boat. They warned the viewing audience that they were about to see something that might be disturbing. I rewound one time and re-watched it. It wasn't clear from what I saw that he didn't just fall off, but they said that it was clear to people there that he jumped and subsequently drowned in the ocean.

I imagine that was the Oasis of the Seas on Friday.

On second thought sounds maybe was another one.

Some guy jumped onto a like boat off a balcony and hung off it awhile, on the Oasis. I imagine he wet through the props, the coast guard has even canceled the search.

It's a very largish ship, have been on it a few times.

One of the biggest cruise ships out there.

Ship Stats

Gross Tonnage 225,282 Length 1,186.5 ft Max Beam 213 ft Draft 30 ft Cruising Speed 22.6 knots

Had one of the rear large rooms at the stern of the ship on a 3 day FAM cruise when that thing was brand spanking new, that thing is massive.

The guy I saw jump off the bridge had parked his car next to the railing and there was a big rig stopped behind him. As I approached he got out of his car and walked to the rear - I assumed he had broken down and was going to talk to the truck driver. Instead he darted between his car and the truck and climbed up on the railing and went straight over. Not even a second's hesitation, although I suppose he could have been sitting in his car for a while before I got there.

The electric fuel pumps in Volkswagen buses like to keep pouring gas into the fire. I saw one burn once and the flames go huge.

Some had optional, gas-fueled heaters. Uh oh!
