Most boost I can get ???

I hope this is the best place to post this.

I have a mainboard with the video on board. It uses 30 Mg. of my 512 Mg. ram, leaving 480.
I can only do one. Would I be best served to get a good vid card with - say 128 Mg. OR ..
install another 512 ram upgrade..bringing me to 994 Mg?

Opinions or experience, please.

Some details would help a great deal:
What games are you playing, what resolution you are using, and whats your CPU. Oops.. are you using the integrated graphics on your mobo? Get a new card ASAP! ANY card.. really.

Pretty much anything is better than integrated graphics for running games.

Though pick up some ram while you're at it, you can get a 512 stick for dead cheap.

if you get a vid card, your system memory might perform better cause its not being used up by the integrated graphics

my wifes comp has 1 gig of ddr and uses a integrated gfx gforce 6150 and it eats up her system memory when playing hl2 source based games

Not really into games. Mostly browsing the web and home office stuff.

This is an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ on a Biostar Micro ATX. Many times it just bogs down - at times to locking up - when I open multiple stuff. It seems to really suffer with larger PDF files, which happen to have a lot of graphics.

I probably do need both, but the better half is in the mix on this one - so it one to start.

Get the RAM upgrade, and some kind of discrete graphics card (doesn't have to be some fancy gaming model with tons of RAM... almost anything is faster than shared memory onboard video).

Also make sure you don't have tons of spyware and crap running in the background.

for what you do, pick up the ram first....try for 1 GB

I just ordered a ATI Radeon 9200 64MB DDR video card with DVI and S-video out for $20 plus tax off the net.....that would serve your purpose greatly....got it from canadacomputers.com....its to replace a crapped out 9800 pro in my fathers machine (he doesnt game either)
