Most common errors found in mainstream movies?

Not a commonly done thing by any means but in the movie Gamer the main character regurgitates Vodka into a trucks gas tank to fuel it up so he could escape a gaming compound. Seriously one of the most "Are you kidding me" moments I have ever seen in a movie.

Why? Do you really think we're still running on fossil fuel in the future? The car obviously ran on alcohol.

Only warp engines. At least their regular impulse engines should work.

Oh yeah so my wife and I were watching an episode of Voyager last night. Some energy wave hits them, immediately their engines go down. After it passes, they give a damage report:

"Shields are holding. Minor hull damage to deck 10. No injuries."

Yet their engines failed.

Oh Star Trek.

If a massive wave of energy slammed the ship, I'm pretty sure that would do some damage via the nacelles. They're a lot more exposed than the rest of the ship and are susceptible to energy based disruptions since they themselves work off huge amounts of energy.

Well admittedly Tue gas tank of the car said that it ran in ethanol. But I'm not sure that the ethanol content of vodka is enough to run a car

It bothers me how quickly and accurately lab tests can identify key evidence/materials.

Generally takes more than one test lasting all of 15 minutes

Your body absorbs alcohol VERY quickly.

He would have less than 5 minutes to do what he needed to.

Also, the contaminants in his stomach would also play havok with the fuel filters.

ALSO, the amount he could chug down would probably get him about as far as he could have run in the same amount of time. Let me also guess, he wasn't even buzzed?



As for teh previously mentioned tech progression... Yeah, things get faster when compared overall, but when you start looking at other advances and the change in the way of life from 1811 to 1911 you start to appreciate that the industrial revolution WAS a great thing......

We will see if we hit another tech wall, where Cancer is still a problem but we can store holographic images of the entire planet on a pinhead.
