i beat both super monkey balls to completion and got to the last lvl of back to the future.

A boy and his blob for NES always kicked my ass.

Tony hawk 4 was the toughest game i played recently.. altho with time i did beat it. Took up to an hour or 2 to beat some of the missions.

I beat ghosts and goblins once back when I was in high school and vowed never to play that game again (but it was a blast!!)

I now play ghouls and ghosts regularly on MAME.

LOVE IT!

Yeah, I beat Ghosts and Goblins in high school, but Ghouls and Ghosts is what gives me trouble.

Doom II, level 30

That wasn't so hard, once I knew what to do I could do it even by starting the level with only a pistol. Once I also managed to use a BFG instead of a rocket launcher to beat that level.

Damn, I never thought that one was very hard. All you had to do was design a 3d map of the game.

Super Ghouls N' Ghosts for the SNES. It was a hard mofo. I got to level 3 on that and gave up after endless hours of trying.

Another game that sticks out in my mind is the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the Original Gameboy. Damn that game was hard. You had 4 lives (each turtle) until you beat the game, no extra continues. Once a character is dead, hes gone forever, and he wouldn't be healed when you played with that character again in a different level.

I beat TMNT on the gameboy (yes the origional with the 4 turtles as lives) multiple times.

I can't name just one. Probably something no the Amiga.

Atari 2600 - Raiders of the Lost Arc, Adventure.
C-64 - Rambo, Impossible Mission, Goonies?, Miner 2049er, Space Taxi.
Amiga - 007 Licensed to Kill :| , Ghouls n Ghosts, Another World (I never played Flashback), Rocket Ranger, Defender of the Crown, It Came From the Desert, Hostage: Rescue Mission, F-16 Combat Pilot.
PC - F-18 Korea was real hard for me except on easy, and for me any where you have to control a bunch of people or requiring patience and planning (the Baldurs Gate's, Close Combat, the Rainbow Six's, etc).
Arcade - Defender/Stargate, Scramble/Super Cobra, Marble Madness, Blueprint, Zaxxon, Sinistar, Satans Hollow?, Rush N Attack/Green Beret, Commando?.
Many others I can't think of...

Mega Man 1 is the first game I beat on Nintendo. I was also like 7. Mega Man 3 was so hard because you had to like play it twice in a row in addition to playing through like 3 extra Wily stages.

The one game I found incredibly difficult to beat was: Rush N' Attack on the NES. I think I got passed level 2, ONCE. No continues, no saves, etc.

Contra was easy. Beat it without a cheat and no continues. Happened out once and couldn't repeat the performance. I was in the zone that day.

I never did pass Super Mario Bros. on Nintendo .. =(
